Dear Hubert: Nice to hear that you will be at the event. I will see you there. This should be a lot of fun.
Weather looking good for Saturday according to weather.com oh, by the way, i got a nice car wash yesterday. my car will definitely look a lot better than last week
Always a little nervous when my sunshine days are wedged between days of rain, but that's just the pessimist in me speaking. Crossing lots and lots of fingers.
I think that if we all run our cars and stay as a group, the heat from the engines will create a thermal updraft thus pushing the clouds away, allow the sun to shine, and even step-up the temperature a bit. Whaddaya think? Plausible? Besides, the thrum of Ferrari sounds far better than the clap of thunder !
I will be there for a little while but I will have to depart from the pack about 12:30 cant wait to meet everyone see you there.
In addition, if we all press our air horns at the same time that will create a sudden air pressure increase which may likely push the clouds away. This effect can be further enhanced by a group screaming.
Weather on Saturday April 24 Mostly Sunny 59° OK, no rain, so no more hand wringing. The event is ON. 1) We will meet at the Park and Ride off Exit 63 of the Long Island Epressway at 9:30 If that gets too full, there are lots across the street/nearby and we will spill over into there. 2) When you get there, please check in with me. Ill be wearing a red beany copter with a black carnation wait wrong event anyway youll find me. I will give you directions and the days agenda. 3) We are planning TWO routes to get to the winery. (BEFORE about 12 noon). One will be a more leisurely pace, and one will be a spirited run* Barney G will lead the spirited run in his yellow 308. Directions will be provided for both runs on the day of the event. 4) There are going to be 50+ cars. It will not be possible to keep everyone together. I suggest groups of 4 or 5 team up. That is, those in that group wait for each other if one or two members fall behind at a light or whatever. If we have 10 groups of 5 that string together fine, but at least this way we should not have any stragglers. 5) I wont be assigning these groups unless need be. If you need help with this, let me know. 6) We will have an informal concours, so look sharp (I mean your car). Trophies for 1st 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded. 7) The winery said they will have SOME chairs, but we have over 120 people. If you can fit a small folding chair in your car, might be a good idea. 8) PM me if youd like my cell #. (hint: might be good to have.) 9) If you have any idea how to operate a camera, feel free to bring one and take as many shots as possible please be willing to share. 10) Feel free to bring video as well. 11) Black tie optional 12) More updates as needed. Thanks Sam PS: THE WINERY HAS A PUBLICITY AGENCY THAT HAS BEEN PLAYING THIS UP. THEY ADVERTISE IT AS A MAJOR FERRARI EVENT STARTING AT 12 NOON. WE SHOULD HAVE THE CARS SET UP ON THE FIELD AT 11:45. * spirited in that everyone will be singing patriotic songs From the Galluccio's Website: "WELCOME FERRARI CAR SHOW APRIL 24, 2004 12:00 WORLD CLASS FERRARI CAR SHOW. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC." http://www.gallucciofamilywineries.com/ I did tell them that it was not just Ferrari, but I guess they didn't listen...go figure
I am 95% sure that I will be able to attend the event. Anyone still have a seat available for the run. I can fly into ISLIP airport 5 minutes from the meeting place. Happy to trade right seat time in airplane for mooching a ride to ROE Vernon
Vernon, If you fly into the little airport in East Moriches, I can pick you up there. I have a seat open.
One thing that would be very helpful for people to bring, to the extent they have them, is two-way radios. Always a great idea for the runs -- even if to keep the small groups together.
I just saw the article in "Dan's Papers" about the ROE. Nice little writeup with a brief history of Enzo Ferrari. The headline is "Big Event of the Week- Ferrari Come to Cutchogue at Galluccio Vineyards" I guess it is a big event. Last week's "big event" was the local butcher got a new electric meat slicer.
LOL....hey, what does he drive? You live out that way. Word must have gotten out the ED will be attending. Damn. Now we gotta fight off the paparazzi. Bring the paper and autograph it for me.
As an FYI We could conclude the ROE with an ROW : I just heard the Queen Mary 2 is berthed in the Cunard berths and she PLUS the QE II will be there until 4/25 at 7:30pm when the leave. Just a thought. 2 magnificient ships, 30+ magnificient cars. Nice combo. here's the link http://www.cunard.com/QM2Events/default.asp?Active=USEvents&Sub=ta
Over 50 cars. Hard to say who will be there as I've got some "I won't know till day ofs" Figure on about 20 f cars, more than 50 cars total: 360 (coupe & spider) F40, 328, 308, Mondial, 355, 348, Dinos, 550, 575 + a Diablo....Vipers galore. A couple of Fiat Spiders, a couple of Alfas, Porsches, BMW M3, BMW 3.0...
Sam, when do you think the event will run till. Just need to plan a couple things for Saturday evening, and wanted to make sure I scheduled properly. Thx.
No fooling? The Lamarossa is making a guest appearance? Sheesh, if it leads the pack, they should let us drive onto the QM2....once around the deck
Just saw the announcement in Newsday. Is this event really being hosted by the Empire Sate Region of the Ferrari Club of America?
