Hi guys, I've got a 612 on order for delivery early next year. And while I intend to keep it indefinitely I would like to know what I can expect from a depreciation point of view... Will it loose the most in the first year or progressively over time? What should I expect the value to be (%) after 3 years?
This is a very tough question to ask on a new car. My understanding of the V12 ferrari market is that they have a tendancy to lose quite a bit straight off the bat, perhaps the opposite to the V8's. The reviews of the 612 have been great however and while some don't think it's the best looking car Ferrari have made these reviews may help. Perhaps the best thing to do is look at how the previous V12 models did, including the 550 and 575
Things might be different in the UK. But, here in the states, my guess is that a new 612 will depreciate roughly 30% in three years. Take care, DrTax
Traditionally 4 seater Ferrari's have not held their value compared to the 2 seater equivalents. The 456 has always been a big depreciator, One fresh out of the showroom now would probably struggle to make £100k on the used market. Once the novelty of the 612 has worn off I expect it will be in the same boat.
It would be nice if the 612 bucked the V12/ 2+2 trend, but I don't think it will. If that's right, depreciation will be somewhere between 40 and 50% over two years. I suspect there will be a level period of a few months while there's still a significant waiting list, but then... The aftermarket (people like me) won't be buying at anywhere remotely close to list. What it the list price for the 612? plus extras? It will be interesting to see how the 360CS holds it's value compared to the 612 - cause they are about the same price bracket right?? I would have thought the 360CS will keep its value better.....?
£170,000 basic £7,500 F1A gearbox* £more... SatNav, etc. * Not accurate price but within a few hundred
blimey.. thats not cheap. I reckon one with 10K extras will be down to around 110K after 3 yrs (private sale) from seeing what the 550/456s did. I guess part of the problem for secondhand V12s, is that new parts are twice as expensive as the V8s, therefore puts people off in the secondhand market.... I could be wrong tho. Are you undecided on buying, or just trying to put a budget together? Ade
For £170k you could get a 996 turbo(4 sort of useable seats, cheaper to run, reliable) and a 360 fun car.
As mentioned above, I don't think anyone is denying it's a great car, but I think it's overpriced what it is.. and unless you REALLY REALLY want one, you'll plump for a V8 for half the price.
