May he rest in peace, and his family be consoled.

I saw it this morning and thought, now there is a real American hero.

Sports 'role models' should be utterly humbled.

I was very sad to read this. Tillman is truely a hero. As stated previsouly, it makes all other bickering atheletes look pretty rediculous. We need more people like him in this world. RIP Mr. Tillman.

I hope I make people mad by saying I'd rather be a live coward than a dead hero any day of the week. I grew up watching the evening news detailing how young people died in Vietnam. If you didn't sleep through history class in grade school, you'll remember that the Vietnam War ended by the middle class (voters) getting mad at the US government for the loss of 38,000+ American lives. My sympathies go out to any family suffering the loss of a loved one. However, I am starting to tire of our government sending troops to act as policemen in all the troubled spots of the world. Seeing a picture in the news today of US flag-draped coffins stacked one after the other in a cargo hold doesn't make me feel any better either...

At a time when the term Hero is used too liberally, this man was truly one. He will become a symbol for all that is good about America. May God give him rest and comfort his family.

    John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
    (NIV)

I believe he and all who have died fighting against evil, lay down thier lives for us. For them, I give thanks.

Norm: I'm sorry to read this, we have our freedom at the price of many lives. As a veteran of Vietnam, please do not dishonor those who have given the full measure of devotion. Unfortunately, freedom cost more than money it is paid for with the blood of heros. Until you have shed blood for this country, you may never understand the true cost of freedom. With freedom and power comes responsibility. We must accept our responsibility. May God bless the men and women who understand that and have given thier lives so you and I can enjoy freedom.

I'd rather be a live coward...

Norm, as to one living Vietnam veteran offering his own opinion as to your post, (who didn't sleep through history class - I lived it) your hopes are true. You are a live coward.

    Live well, coward. :(

since we all have to die sometime, i'd rather be a dead hero instead of a live coward.

i could never live with myslef knowing that i was a spinless jellyfish that stood by while someone needed my help.

    cowards destroy society.

People take our freedom for granted today, we have so much to thank our Vetrans for, ones that say I would never fight make it seem like they have died and fought for nothing, they don't deserve to be here.
