I snapped this of Paul Newman w/ his car at Roebling. What have you captured of celebraty drivers? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I , er, urinated next to him at Lime Rock In the men's room near the left-hander. About 20 years ago. We were both in our driver's suits. I think it was the July 4th SCCA National. No pictures though. I think that would have been crude.
Karen, I'll have to dig through my archives, but I've got a few others somewhere. Kind of a funny story about John Paul Jr.: Back in '94 or '95 we were at the Indy 500, and the guy who sat down next to me was wearing a full Nomex racing suit, which seemed a bit odd. After he sat down he pulled out a baggie containing a pit pass medallion and some signed photos of a driver. I asked about it, and he said the photos were of Paul Jr., an acquaintance of his. I asked how they knew one another, and his response was that they were cellmates back in prison!
Gilles, GREAT story! LMAO!!! Karen, Brian is just SUCH a great guy, a great person. I wish more were like him. Regarding driver photographs, perhaps this one is relevant in light of today's race...and Montoya's unseemly, girlish, and dead-wrong whining: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are a few more. Laffite in Detroit, '84. Ditto Piquet, but taking a nap! And Jackie Stewart in Montreal '86.
Took this one some years ago at Zandvoort, The Netherlands, during the Marlboro Masters. Schumacher gave a demo...and it was great! Waldo ForzaRossa.com
I have a question: What year was the first picture of Newman from? A lot of nice shots in this thread! Notice a lot of parmalat sponsorship....too bad they can't pay back their debt- Better use of $ keeping race cars going
I believe I took that one of Newman in 2001 at a Brian Redman Targa 66 meet at roebling. BTW, I asked him if he minded photographers snapping shots & he said, "It is what it is". I crawled away.
Phil Hill, Alain de Cadenet, Carol Shelby, Sir Stirling Moss, Paul Frere, Michael Galati, Randy Pobst, Boris Said, Hans Stuck, Scott Pruett, Pierre Kleinubing, David Curran, Peter Cunningham, Jeff McMillin, and Justin Bell. Car nut, but not race driver, Jay Leno. None of these pics are award winning, but I have a couple that I like from the names mentioned above.
