You have my assurance on the matter. I would like to explain myself first.

I feel sad that public cannot express a interest in Ferrari by not being allowed to know about UK FOC events on the web.
The reason Ferrari today has such a following is due to its fans and supporter's that most likely do not own a Ferrari.
Many Ferrari fans have not the money to own a Ferrari or join the FOC and benefit from the Ferrari events in the UK.

I do many charity events and show my Ferrari and allow the public to sit and touch my car.
The 'public are the real people that make Ferrari so special. They respect the cars.
Its a dream of theirs to see, touch and be part of Ferrari.

As its FOC policy and I will comply with the FOC rules.
Please reinstate my access to the member only.
    Kindest Regards,
    Justin Kenyon

    Subject: FOC website

    hi Justin,

Thanks for sending us the e-mail about your access to the Members-only
    section of our website.

We have temporarily put a block on your access because it has again been
drawn to our attention that you have done a cut-and-paste of an item from
Members-only and posted it on a public forum, FerrariChat.com.

You will recall that I have already asked you on previous occasions not to
re-post items from within the Members section. There are obvious reasons of
confidentiality and copyright; our Club's committee is also very concerned
that venues and other details of our private events are appearing on public
websites. Whilst we do currently allow non-members to spectate at track
days, the concours, etc, it is not our policy to publicise the location of
    these events

Obviously your latest re-post about Ray Ferguson and a TV programme was not
in itself going to cause any damage we must ask you again to refrain from
re-posting items from within the Members section. By all means draw
attention to items on our Club website which you think might be of
interest - those with access passwords can then go and look for themselves
to find out the details but non-members will not be able to gain access.
That's the way it should be.

May I please ask for your assurance that you will not re-post Members items
in the future, and I will then arrange for your access password to be
    reinstated.

    regards, Christian.

"our Club's committee is also very concerned that venues and other details of our private events are appearing on public websites"

That's interesting. The implication is that they are unhappy that events are being discussed at all, so presumably they are just as unhappy when someone posts on FChat saying "Is anyone going to the FOC track day at Silverstone on 19th?".

    Weird.

    Interesting.....

I don't know what to think about all this.

    It's pretty sad really.
    Sign of the times.

But the what's the reasoning behind all the hush, hush?
    Security?

Sounds like a job for Chaa.

    Hey Chaa,

I know your feelings about the FOC, but looks like they may need your services. Plus it might be more fun look after F.cars than personalities.
    (less b/s I suspect).

    Hi everyone,

Sorry Justin that you have had your legs smacked !!!

As I said in my previous post about non members being allowed in at the Silverstone Trackday, It`s that certain shady & light fingered members of the public can read where the cars are being parked and then attempt to relieve them from the owners (it has happened in the past ).

So the rule is little or no publicity.

    Regards.

    Phil.

But this is a 'rule' that simply cannot be policed. Sure, stop people getting in at the gate, but it is impossible to stop people from talking about the date and location of an event, which is what is being said in the above letter.

so i take it that this means if you are a FOC member you are not a thief and if you are not a member of the FOC that there is every chance that you are a thief as i wanted to come to donnington on 10th may i am not a member of FOC so if i got in i would be under suspition of being a thief but if i join the FOC and come to donnington as a member i am okey

I agree. It would simple enough to have one entrance, and police it for membership cards.

Perhaps SPA Ferrari wish for us to sign an "official secrets act". I don't think we have ever signed something that suggests that our access to the club and it's rersources would be restricted if we speak of club matters. If so all Fchatters would be booted out at the first opportunity!

Whilst I understand what Phil is saying, I think the security issues should be addressed by the FOC management team, and not the members. ie. are Minardi responsible if a member of the public walk off with some of Frank Williams spanners?

Silverstone is a big place, so let the FOC have the pit and the paddock access by membership card, and Joe public can have access to the rest of the circuit.

as ferrari club events are such a seceret i think they need to change there web site if you go on FOC WEBSITE AND THEN CLICK ON CLUB EVENTS AND CLICK ON IT it tells you of every FOC gathering of track days racing days club shows and meetings and concours events i also read into this that FOC is a closed shop and dont want any new members as you are not made welcome at club events unless you are a member what happened to try before you buy or have a look and see if you like it as i wanted to come to donnington and see if i liked what was going on and then join as i have application forms but with some of the comments on here it seems that i will not be made welcome or get in ????????????????

    @ steve f,

Steve, nowhere in my last post on this subject did I state that anyone on this site was a thief if they were not an FOC member, etc.

The fact is that the information can be read here very easily by people that none of us on this site want involved with a Ferrari event. I know it`s impossible to stop anyone talking about the events and I have no intention of trying !!!

You will be very welcome at Donington, the FOC is not a closed shop and never will be, I would be the first to resign if it did !!!

Please read Tonyh`s comments on the Silverstone trackday, come to Donington and then make up your mind.

I will be at Donington as a friend is running his car there and I look forward to meeting you and anyone else from f.chat.

    Regards.
    Phil.

This is true, but in defence of the FOC it does not state where the members trackdays and FOC events are, just the dates. It does show dates and places for racing events, bet these would be publicised by the circuits...
