I was wondering if anyone has taken a look at the most recent issue of EVO (the one with the Maserati on the cover). There is a small article that Ferrari is going to produce 50 street legal (I doubt US legal) versions of the 575 GTC car. It will look just like the race car with 300kg (I think) of wt removed and a slight increase in power. The article states 25 in LHD, 25 in RHD.

Cool. Can't wait to see it. Like a 575 GTC Stradale. They'd have to do something about ride height, though, or that thing will be bottoming out all over the place.

    That's a 550, not a 575 (I think)

Nope, it should be the 575 GTC. It's the Competizione-version of the 575M Maranello. Take a peek at this link:

From what I recall, the article said Ferrari is going to produce them. The price was rather low...starting at $275K.

That would have to be a street-version without all the expensive race-parts. Because the one pictured above is 710.000 Euro (785.000 USD)...
    A rather steep pricetag.

I have read it about 2 days ago, and can't remember much.

All I can recall is that this particular car will not be made by Ferrari. It will be done by a company who used the 550 to race and they got the idea of producing ones for street.

What they will do is to get the used 550 (I think it's the 550), take it apart, replace whatever panels and parts that they want and redo the interior a bit, and then sale it to us. I don't know if this is done with the Ferrari's blessing or not, but it's sure not a factory's plan.

By the way, they said this conversion would save about 300 KG, if my brain is still working fine...
