That's very cheap... my initial reaction is that the car will probably need a 30k service plus some work on the interior console pieces... that should put the car price at/around the $45-47k range. For a car with 31k miles, that is probably priced right. The paint looks pretty good, though... seats don't look like they are worn too badly. Engine shows some rust?? Probably just rain exposure.

However, for a first ferrari, this doesn't seem like that bad of a buy... anybody ever deal with or buy from bayshore automotive?

I think it is a steal. I would pick it up in a second if I just didn't buy a car. I may still see if I can pick it up. It would be fun. Plus I would like to take a trip to Florida right now.

Ok I'm interested in buying this car........what should I be looking for as this would be my first Ferrari. Any help is appreciated. I bid on it to $25,000 but I know the reserve is going to be around 36-37,000.

Lets say the 30k service is not done how much will that cost?

    Thanks
    Jeremy

Meaning??? I'm asking for your help which is the second step. I've been lurking the forum and several ferrari sites for information regarding 348 ferrari's for quite some time now. I haven't just come to a snap decision, please help me fill in the details.

Your profile doesn't indicate where you're from. The price of a service can vary widely depending on (a) where you are (b) whether there's an authorized dealer or good independent or both in your area and (c) what else is required in addition to the 'normal' major service.

Call around, and also call Norwood Performance (they're a sponsor on the board).

It's standard for a potential buyer to get a pre-purchase inspection on the car. This entails having a mechanic of your choice check out the car and tell you everything that needs repair on the car. A Ferrari specialist is helpful at this point, although not all cars are going to be near a specialist.

You can also ask a local Fchatter to go check the car out for you. I've done this for a few people in the Dallas area.

Then go with your gut. I did none of the above, but ended up with a good car because my local mechanics knew and recommended the car.

Assuming that it needs the service and isn't a wreck, you'll probably be 45K or more into the car after purchase price/taxes/repairs. That's not a bad price for the car, actually.

    MANY THANKS TILLMAN

I updated my profile while you posted haha. I'm in NC. I'll check to see if my sister in sarasota can find a ferrari mechanic and have it check out for me. Thanks again for the great advice.

I want to join you guys as a Ferrari Owner however I want to make sure I will enjoy that glorious screaming V8 as much as I can. There is a local 348 owner whom I'm going to contact and see if he can also give me some pointers.

But like you say Tillman 45k with tax/service is not a bad price.

For this price I don't think it will be around long enough for you to set up a PPI and inspect it yourself. I agree that you should have a PPI especially since this is your first Ferrari plus it could have had some type of damage and someone bought it and repaired it, then carfax won't pick it up. Just to be honest though I think it will go quick.

Well the Buy It Now is gone. He is going to let it ride. Now it will probably go to $48K or so.

I think his reserve was extremely reasonable. It will be interesting to see how far it goes.

I agree. I was going to go ahead an hit the buy it now but someone hit the reserve. The bad part is that they probably aren't a serious buyer and if they didn't bid I would have a 348 now. Now if I can only get him to retract his bid the BIN will come back LOL!

Ugh! That's so annoying. Why even pay for a Buy it Now if you are going to meet the reserve yourself? Good luck with the car - it looks great. I always liked 348s

    CiLKy,
You are bidding on a car with no idea what the major service costs, and could potentially entail? Ebay Motors preys upon the unknowing....There are rarely "bargains" in exotic cars, especially on Ebay...let's face it guys, ALL cars look pretty good based on a few digital photos. Things can really change when you show up in person, see it "in the flesh", and have a proper inspection done.

I see two "red flags" right off the bat:

    1) If this is a true "one owner" car, why wouldn't the owner sell this car himself as a private party, instead of using a broker/dealer?

    2) Why is the "reserve, below wholesale book", (through a dealer no less) if the car is such a prime example? The owner is going to net very little for his/her car, but selling cheap, and through a dealer.

There is something wrong with this car, that is not being disclosed...either a wreck, flood damage, or major malfunction....something.

  19. Im definetly with dave its really easy to detail the worse of looking cars and make them look new again and then sell them. Even though they have some major flaws not visible to the eye.

My old 308 showed up on ebay as a "perfect" car. It needed a 12K engine rebuild when I traded it in.

If it's too good to be true, then it must be.
