Hi, I'm new to this forum and have just bought my first Ferrari - an '01 360 Modena F1. I'm an avid trackie and have purchased an extra set of 360 Challenge wheels on which I'm keen to mount track rubber. I've used a variety of r-compound tires including the Corsas and the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on my Porsche GT3. However, I can't find any sizes to match the 360 OEM specs.

What sizes have you guys been running? I'm thinking of trying 225/40/18 F and 285/30/18 R (Michelin Cups are available in these sizes) but am worried that the profile change may not be advisable. Would appreciate any advice that you are able to provide.

Welcome to F-Chat! And good first post... glad to see you plan to use your 360 properly! :D

Do you plan to run the tires on the street... or just on the track?

If on the street, the key issue is keeping the ratio of the front and rear diameters the same... so that you don't confuse the traction control. If they will only be used on track (traction control off), then the only issue is to not stray too far from stock diameters, because you don't want to upset the suspension geometry. (Well, also make sure you have enough load capacity in the tires you choose.)

I run my track tires on the street (Kumhos or Mich PSCs are fine on the street). With the Kumhos, I had smaller rear diameter than front... and both smaller than stock. That rendered my traction control useless (it often thought I was spinning tires just cruising a constant speed). But other that, all was well... I just always turned off traction control.

P.S. If you go with the Mich PSCs, let us know how they perform. That was going to be the next R-tire I tried on my 360 Modena... but then I sold it.

Thanks Brian. I'll try the Mich PSCs in the 225/40 & 285/30 sizes. Will let you know if the traction control goes wonky. I typically do not use my r-compounds on the street - except to drive to/from the track. That said, it's a 250 mile drive each way!

285/30ZR18 is way to small at the rear. You want at least 275/40ZR18 or 295/35ZR18 for a reasonable approximation to the expected rolling radii.

Are there any r-compounds available in the 275/40/18 or 295/35/18 sizes?
