    I am about to detail my 1987 328 and need to know whether teh car is clearcoated or not. I have a differnect polish for clear and non clear coat finishes.

    Only the metallic colors were clear coated. All the other colors were single stage paint.

    I had a 1989 TR that was not clearcoated so I would guess that the 1987 is not also. Can someone confirm this for Dave?

    Frank is correct, as long as the car has not been re-painted.
    You might polish a small area to see if you get body color on the cloth.
