how many refer to others on board as "friend" yet have never met?

I have been fortunate to meet many many members of this site but even still, I consider everyone here a friend of mine. Thats the great thing about this community...You can form a trusting relationship with people you have never even met. You cant say things like that 99% of the time.

 

You should come along to one of the NJ meets. This way you could meet fellow FChat members that reside in the state you live in.

 

If you are everyones friend you are no ones friend.
That said, I consider quite a few people here my friends because we've talked more then just one line.

 

Great post, Jim. It's funny, but I have been dragged kicking and screaming into the great WWW. Heck, I even used to hate voice mail!

But over the last few years, I have done more and more work via email with fellow travelers and clients, some of whom I have never met in person. The closest that I have come is an occassional phone conversion.

Year ago, I laughed when a programer told me that he could tell the personality of someone by how they wrote code. But, I gotta admit, he was right. After a while, I can somehow "see" the real person through these ones and zeros as they fly through cyberspace.

Interesting times, eh?

 

Exactly-- I consider pretty much everyone my friend that I speak to more then a couple times unless given reason not to.

 

"Oh, yeah, a _____ of mine told me that."

Given that we have a "Buddy" list, the correct answer is "Buddy."

"Oh, yeah, a Buddy of mine told me that."

Haven't met a soul, but great minds think alike, so I think I've stumbled into several friends in our accidental community.
