You have me mistaken for someone else. No crying or whinning here I'll leave that for you. I don't attack Ferraris..Look at the ones I've owned.I have criticised their current models compared to the Gallardo. The signature is not intended to antagonize but rather get people to drive them and then give an opinion. Fact is you didn't call me you sent several emails on the Banana boat. I think the title "consultant" requires more restraint than you know how to exhibit.
One needs only to look at the F-chat technical Q&A section when comparing L cars to F cars. 34 posts today alone. One guy has a problem with his E-Gear and now some Fcar owners think theyre all problematic. What is that 1% of current Gallardos? I wanna hear more about that NSX that whipped up on some of those current cars. What is that 12 year old technology? Joe
One also has to remember the fact that there are more Ferrari's on the road. There are also Ferrari's that are asy to work on, and owners like to do the work themselves. Lambos are not really a car for sombody to do serious work on unless you have the epquipment to do so. Changing the clutch in a Ferrari say a 308 will tak you an afternood in the driveway. Changing the clutch in a Countach will take you a week or more in the driveway. Little bit of a difference there. Also many people that own Lambo's would much rather just pay somebody else to do the dirty work (like me) Nothing wrong with that at all. But many on this site feel that part of wonership is getting involved with repair the car aswell. The NSX is a fine car. But they have remained the same for too long. Nothing really new to talk about with them really.
I don't run Silverstate to win. if you are .1 of mph off you target you don't even place. Some guys have GPS, navigators and are compulsive/obssesive about winning. This is NOT A RACE so I just do it to go fast and have fun. I'll run solo.If my target speed is 150 mph for the 90 miles I'll try to avg 159 mph (160 mph average you are Disqualified) I'm shooting for last place! The belts hopefully will be done tommorrow, I'm still waiting on race directors decision on rollbar waiver.
I always assumed the reverse as I do all my own work on my 6.0 .It seems the more Lambo owners I meet, the more I find they all tinker with their cars. The clutch job on the car is probably the single most time consuming thing as its an engine out job that requires a lift to hold the 1 ton engine and tranny combo. That is why people leave that to the dealer. One time I went to Ferrari of SF and there wasnt a spot available in the shop. There must have been 20 Ferraris being serviced.Over half were engine out jobs.Apparently every few miles they have to change timing belts and tensioners. Joe
Well, unless Lambo can engineer a $5 fuse that doesn't fall out of it's socket when someone slams the door shut, they ain't gonna win one very soon. They were leading a few weeks ago and during a driver change the fuse fell out and they lost 9 minutes in the pits trying to figure out why it wouldn't start. Of course it's a LAMBO so they didn't automatically think it was something simple like a FUSE so they started looking for all manner of electrical things. Secondly, if the Maserati MC12 shows up, with lord forbid, Alian Prost driving, the Lambo will be toast. Haven't we had enough of these "my Lambo beat up your Ferrari" posts. We all get it............the Lambo is a faster car at most circuits. What's the point here that I am missing! Maybe we should start the "my Enzo whipped the sh*t out of your Murcie threads" to even things up a bit. Regards, Jon P. Kofod www.flatoutracing.net
Your are correct about the 348/355 models needing engine out services. This can be costly and in MHO Ferrari really should have designed the cars better for servicing. But agin it points to the fact that Ferrari builds 4000 cars per year vs Lambo's 1000? if that? So you have 3 times the amount of Ferrari's out there so yes you will see many more in service bays. The later Lambo's like the later Diablo's and 6,0's are fantastic cars. I really like them. They are also reliable and are fairly well put together in the later models like the 6.0. I'm glad you enjoy working on your car!! I hope it continues to give you enjoyment.
Okam - James is hardly seeing the world through Ferrari colored glasses. I guess the question is - if the Lambo is such a hot performer on the track - why isn't it entered in races and winning them. If its such an awesome chassis, engine, etc. why not race it and beat up on lesser, weaker Ferrari's. James did not refer to F1 - he referred to 550's. Why aren't there privateers that race a Murci or a Gallardo and crush 550's - why? Isn't the track the best place to see how far you can push your car? On the road, you may not want to push your car to that limit. There are 3000 people a year that could buy a Lambo G. for the same money as a 360. Instead these same 3000 people wait 3 years and buy a Ferrari 360 for $180K. Why? Are all 3000 people idiots? Surely, they aren't all idiots. Surely they can simply walk into a Lambo delaership - take the G round the block, see the light- and fork over $180K and voila they have a far better car in 3 hours or less. Why dont they do it? Dont answer the question - its a rhetorical one. For some people. a 400HP 360 is a better car "to them" than a 500HP Lambo. For Wayne it wasn't and that's cool too. Buy the one that floats your boat.
Jeeze...who cares.....why can't we like them all? I would like to know where the results came from. Do you have a link?
It is a bit confusing because I actually have this video and the Murci won this race beating the Gallardo. The rest of the field finished as Bannana has posted. Unless there is something strange with the way they did the laptimes the top two should be flipped. On the other hand the NSXR in the video was devastating on the brakes. At one point the car out broke the Murci by a few very obvious car lengths. However, horsepower was the obvious winner in this video. In defence of the 360, the driver did not really look like he was racing the same race as the other cars. Seem to be almost sleeping behind the wheel. At one point he flat out drove past the CSL but then basically let the CSL back past on the breaks as if he was giving him the position back. At any rate good video.
Wayne I didn't realize it was scored like that. Still running your car at high speed and enjoying yourself remains IMO doing very well. Please keep us up!
How did you see this race, and what was the race format? In other words...was it an amateur race? Love to see it. I don't knock any brand FYI....I think that "race" results like this can be deceiving
Just putting things into perspective ... Modena : 1999 (plus ferrari factory added 3 year wait to get a new one) = 2002 Gallardo : 2003 Its a new day,... car companies can build a better mouse trap in all those "waiting list years" that you wait for that magic ferrari 400hp
Hey Banana Boat - Didn't I see your car in LA at a repair shop? Wasn't a bank of cylinders not working or something?
A rule to be followed: Don't bash Ferrari without having driven one. Similarly don't bash Lamborghini without having driven also. I've seen the light!
I can't remember where I DL'ed it from. Not an ameteur race as in a couple of guys out just BS. Those Best Motoring guys are serious drives, some of which I believe run factory efforts in the JGTC. I would love to post it if someone wants to host it.
HA! It is getting 5 points installed. Unless Costa from FX performance blew the motor up after he picked it up from my house! Car is Venice now will be back at FX tommorrow for fire extinguisher installation.
Banana boat, Hmmm, I wasn't going to answer this post, because I think you are just winding me up ... but I could not resist Now either you are the most insecure person on the planet or I just don't get it?, you tell me. Who the fnck cares if a car is faster in a magazine article (or in this case in some contrived race), surely you have wider shoulders than that and will keep the car you enjoy. If those silly little magazine articles are so important to you why did you buy the Lambo? ... You should have a Nissan GTR with 1000 hp, etc. I'm sorry buying based on stupid magazine articles about which is faster (when we are talking about ROAD cars) is just plain imature. Give me a 250 LM any day over any modern car (and okay the LM is very expensive, so lets say a 275GTB, Daytona or Muira to have even playing fields), and yep you can smoke me going to the shops ... but I'm having a great time thank you I hope you have a Ford GT ordered, because that is going to smoke them all. Infact you should just have continue orders with all the companies and then you can own them for 5 minutes while they are top dog and then flip it. I gather you used to race cars (from Jim's posts) ... I think you should return to the track where this attitude makes complete sense ... Pete
Wayne, before you answer you need to understand that Pete gets his jollies from this type of thing. This is the man who flamed me when I posted pics of what is argueably one of the most pristine Countaches around. He flamed me because I painted some of the aluminum in the motor yellow,to match the car.He wondered how I could do this and add weight to the car,and hold heat in the engine compartment?Really,he said that.I then informed him that lambo paints the aluminum from the factory,as Ferrari does on some models. So anyway, thought Id share .Hi Pete, good to see you active again.
If I wanted speed only, for the same price range, I would have bought a Corvette! I like just putting along in the 328.
And the most beautiful TR that ever existed!!And you can do more than putt around in that if you choose!!
lol - Don't say that, the 328 gets jealous. Don't know why all the lambo/F-car bashing goes on - I love them all & appreciate them equally.
