1984 308 QV Sluggish First Gear

    First gear seems to be really sluggish out of the hole up until about 5500 rpm. My thinking is maybe a fuel mixture issue, there's also some coughing heard from the air intake after an extended period of stop and go traffic with lots of first gear action.

    Any ideas?

    now that I think about it, my 85 has been a little sluggish in 1st too. My engine doesn't cough but I know I have been a little heavier on the clutch that I should be. It's not serious. I figure with 2.5k I can wait for the 30k service. I would be interested to know if in deed it is a poblem
