Hi Folks. Has anyone yet to find a reasonably priced (and readily available) spark plug source for late model Ferraris? (ie 355,360,456,550) Many thanks in advance, Mike.

I've used www.clubplug.net before and was very satisfied! They have a pretty useful crossreference tool.

I hadn't realized that plugs have gotten that far out of hand...
Like Dave said, I have used www.clubplug.net when I need to order bulk NGKs, but most of the time I just go to my local parts store, who has agreed to keep my plugs on the shelf.

I tried clubplug, but no luck on 456 or 550. I have a 95 456, but everywhere I have looked, no stock! Help!

I think I found them. I downloaded the 456 owners man from the owners site and found the Champion number: A59GC. This crosses to a NGK R217-9. Now I couldn't find this NGK number either by application or in the catalog. But a little Googling of "NGK R217-9 plugs" gave me this link:

    http://www.clubplug.net/retail_racing_ngk.html

DOH! They're listed under NGK Racing plugs. $28 is a little steep, but when I was looking for plugs for my 328, they were the cheapest source I could find.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave

I will note that if you do enough research, the 95 model F355s had 3 pulg changes over the model year, and that the 96-99 model years used the same plug as the end specification of 95.

Note the first plug is available at around $2.56 while the last plug is $16.xx each.

If you are into changing plugs (like once a year) use the cheap ones. If you are loath to change pluge, use the expensive ones. Either way, its the same long term cost structure.

We have been looking for 550 plugs for the last 3 months.

DCRP9EVX (6436) is the part number, and according to NGK USA, they are N.L.A.

So, for the moment, we are using Ferrari Factory Plugs.

    Oh, and do this.

    $225k for the Car
Factory Plugs cost $11.70 x 12=140.40 (BTW, each dealer will have their own set price)
    NGK List Price is $15.41 x12 = 184.92

    2000 Audi S4 (my car)
    NGK Plugs $28.70 ea x6 = $172.20

So, my 30k car has ALMOST the same cost of plugs, yet I only have 6. Does that help????

And you can do this on many parts on these cars. Yes, the parts may be more expensive then other cars, but the ratio from what you have paid for the car to what you are paying for the parts, is comprable.

I check NGK's web site and they support all the Ferrari's at less than $3.00 per plug. Just had a 30K service done by an independent has was charges 3.35 per plug for a 456GT

The www.clubplug.net parts look up is going to be updated this summer (according to the owner Frank)...in the mean time it is probably best to go to the NGK site to figure out what you need, then return to the club plug site to find it, at the discounted price.

The 456 can use the standard NGK DCPR9E plug. Found here for the wopping price of $2.73 each....http://www.clubplug.net/retail_complete_ngk.html

If the original plug was the NGK platinum DCPR9EVX, then the logical replacement would be the newer style Iridium plugs or DCPR9EIX. Club plug does not stock that number yet. I don't know if that even exists yet..but if they had it in the EVX, they should have an EIX equivalent by now....

    Regards,
    Dave
