Just to know, does they explain the reason for this choice? OK, it is not the most stunning Ferrari ever built, but still a very good car, IMHO.

    Ciao

Now I might be mis reading the whole Mondial thing, I have one and love it. Given the cash I would love a 355, to me a beautiful bit of kit, but the Mondial is what I can afford. Many people who have had more F car experience than me also seem to rate it and in the US it also seems to held in reasonable esteem. Sooooooooooooo why does it only seem to be the UK journalists who have a downer on it. Jeremy Clarkson has been very disparaging about them. What's the deal ? Lets not forget this is a 2+2 car, it's practical and reasonable quick with all the trappings of a FERRARI.

I agree the car is a nice car,and i was at one point before i could shell out more money was indeed looking at them myself. The mag even have a go at owners by saying " they are driven by people who look like they should not be driving ferraris", thing is alot of people hang on Clarksons every word. I do like him becourse he speaks his mind, but some things he says are damageing.

I heard they were talking about the Mondial 8. The mondial 8 is a different animal compared to the QV, 3.2, and t. Performance was seriously lacking in the early 8V model.

Saying that im not trying to put down the Mondial 8. I think they are really good value for money, but the price difference does mean less performance.

    Babylon - Get that git!

C'mon guys... treat it with the contempt it deserves... after all Top Gear is to Motoring what Tommorow's World was to Science - hardly worth raising a sweat over! Bear in mind the motoring press tend to assume they are in the position to choose whatever car they want irrespective of price and personal circumstance (even though their articles may pretend otherwise), the rest of us have to manage with what we like and can afford.. for some its a 308 GT4, others it's a 612 Scaglietti), well for me it's a Mondial QV and I'm proud of it (one day I shall aspire to a 550 Maranello...). I enjoy Clarkson & Co and their 'witty' banter - but I'm hardly likely to base my motor choices on their (ahem) 'wisdom'!!

Well they said the same things around the time I was looking for a Mondial QV in 1993, and you know what I am glad they slag it off - it was the only way I could afford one. 11 years later I've still got it and I know it's not a bad car at all.

    Hi Mike,

Glad to read that last comment from you, but remember that we are not always in a Ferrari, can you wear a Ferrari badge so we know it`s you ?? Or do we put a sticker on stating my other car is a Ferrari or I love F Chat.

I nearly passed some of your colleague`s yesterday morning in a unmarked Volvo S40 on the A449 on my way to Cardiff, bet he was p***** that I spotted him, (LOL).

    Regards,

    Phil.

It seems that since the 'new look' Top Gear started, people may have forgotten what utter twunts Clarkson and crew are.

This is just a gentle reminder from them :)

Did they slate the Maserati BiTurbo and the 412 again as well?

    Cheers,
    TOM

I have not read the article..... but am very wary of anything that comes remotely from JC’s direction especially after his description of us owners and cars who attend (FOC) track days a couple of years ago. I was at that track day he was allowed to attend and the resultant write up…… like I am sure the comments re the Mondial…..

Well…… I am sure you could fit the term ‘bull’ into my personal critical evaluation of both……

    Here's what the booklet says;
"Even Ferrari screws up . And it did so big time with this one. After the boring 400/412 saloons, this is the Ferrari you're most likely to encounter on a used car lot-the Ferrari that, the experts suggest, you should buy instead of a Nissan Primera. And it's the Ferrari , moreover, often encountered with someone behind the wheel who doesn't look like he should own a Ferrari. It's a scabby horse. Why? Well, even in black it's no beauty."

What the F uck does Clarkson know anyway? !

    Thats Blasphemy!

JC should remember one thing. Its a Mondial not an f40. Thats why its a fraction of the price of one.

Besides i drove a Nissan Primera last week. I think he should too and then reconsider his comments! It sucked!!!

Ah yes, the delightful Mr. C. The man who made wearing denim jeans about as fashionable as those one-piece white spangley suits that Elvis used to wear when he was fat and forty-something in the mid-seventies.
The man who made the noble art of being an automotive journalist/presenter turn into being a second-rate game-show host (doubtless the floor-manager holds up a sign that tells the audience when to laugh at his limp attempts at wit) - compare and contrast with Tiff, or even V B-H, who actually demonstrate driving skills in their programmes, and they don't wear more makeup than Barbara Cartland when in front of the cameras.
The man who would have his readers believe that it was a smart move to sell his 355 and replace it with an SL55 (which even owners of, have described to me as about as involving to drive as an S class limo). Ever since this stroke of genius, JC has taken every opportunity to slag off Fcars, as far as I can tell, including the trite hatchet job on an FOC trackday as mentioned earlier. Can't understand why his now hatred of the prancing horse.
Jezza, do us all a favour. Stick to talking about what cars are like to drive - and I don't mean all that, "if this car was a fish it would be Billy Connolly's banjo" nonsense, get Stig to do more benchmarking laptimes on your noddy Sussex circuit, and stay away from the interviewing.

Top gear is all about sensationalist publicity, it is to car magazines what The Sun is to Newspapers. If I wanted an informed opinion it is the last place I would look. The only reason the Mondial is in that list is to enable to say the worst 50 cars includes a Ferrari.

having a ferrari is because you like exotic care it dont matter if it cost £5000 or 1million pounds and once they reach 25years old they seem to start going up in value what is the cheapest taxed and tested ferrari that you have seen for sale
