Has anyone heard if the Italian Community of Ottawa is hosting the Ferrrari Parade this year like they did last June? The Quebec Chapter of the FCA was in attendance last year with about ten members. My wife and I were so impressed by the way we were received and the organizers of the event were outstanding. Hats off the Mr. Valente and his team and all their sponsors.

    I hope so too....

They should have a police escort arount the circuit this year. Alot of the drivers caught up in the excitment got carried away (including myself at some point). Personally I think I could be an accident waiting to happen with the spectators being that close to the street especially at the end (u-turns).
JMO in order to have a safer environment. I am pretty sure that it has been discussed by the organizers.

    Hi
Yes, it is planned for June 5 weekend. Unfortuantely my nephew is getting married that weekend so, again, we can't attend. At least he took the F1 GP in Montreal into account, we have plans for that as well.

It's official, the 2004 exotic & race car parade will be held in Ottawa June 4-5-6. The host hotel will be the Chateau Laurier (Fairmont). The parade itself will be held at Lansdowne Park Saturday 11am and the a police escort to the Italian Ambassador's Residence. They are expecting 125 cars this year. It should be a blast, last year's parade was awesome.

    Hey Tony!

This may sound like a silly question, but do you have to be part of a recognized Ferrari Club to participate?

From my understanding, I don't think you have to be part of any club. This year there is a $40.00 registration fee. If you are a member of the Ferrari Club of America you are priviledged to a 2 for 1 accomodations at the Chateau Laurier (Fairmont). If you like a copy of the registration form PM me a fax # of email address.

Try to make it, it will be nice to have a strong Quebec presence. Also if you are not a member FCA you should consider it. It has it's advantages. Example, last year on GP weekend, we were the only Club that had a police escort to Little Italy and secured parking. The other clubs were not very happy .

Actually, the club I'm part of, was invited on Friday evening (during the GP)in little Italy. Although we won't have the police escort, we will have secured parking at the park. The Ottawa has been on my mind, since I first heard about it a few years ago. Back then, I wanted to participate with my Fiat Spider, but never could co-ordinate my events schedule.

I remember someone posting a video of this from last year...what fun!! I hope they do it again this year, but yes, move the spectators back a bit.

These are the videos that I know of. One of them is at http://www.umm.ca/contests/ferrari/ (Urban Male Magazine is an event partner and will have a Ferrari Model Contest held at the owner's nightclub "Space" the evening of Friday June 4. The other is at http://www.thelife.ca/italianweek.php (the link for the QuickTime video is at the bottom of the page under the Ducati 999 pic.

The event is being organized by Marc Carroll Dupuis, a partner with Enrico Valente from last year. I was at the press conference announcing the activities for the club members. From the promo sent to applicants "You must have a valid FCA membership to qualify". Contact Marie Lise Lacroix (regional director of the FCA Eastern & Central Canada branch) at [email protected] or (905) 372-5666 for membership. The first 80 FCA members to register before May 5 will have free accomodations for Saturday at the five star Fairmont Chateau Laurier.

There is no mention of the event on the FCA Canada website but there is another video (9Meg AVI) of the 2003 event taken by one of the members Alfred Jay at http://ferrari.communityzero.com/fcacanada under "Files & Flyers" (left side navigation link). The video link on that page is "Jay I in the Streets of Ottawa".

I am the publisher of the Corso Italia News (the 2003 event took place on the street where I live and report) and will be filing some future reports as I put them together. I've got some static images of the participants for 2003 at http://www.corsoitalia.net/ferrari (click on any of the thumbnails to view larger pics, you can Start/Stop a slideshow at any large image page from the top navigation buttons) and yes there was an F40!

This year the track (thrashing) portion of the event will be held Saturday the 5th at Landsdowne Park. General admission is $7.00 dollars. There will be vendors selling authorized merchandise (Mr Dupuis has an interest in a Gatineau store which is licensed to sell F1 paraphenalia). Not sure of the other vendors. His number at VIA Rail where he works in Marketing (they are not officially associated with the event) is 447-1321. He's a hard man to reach so you might have to leave a message.
