308s,328s,Boxers,F40,F50s, all have the indented black line around the cars.

Clearly for the style of the car how does this change the look and why did they do it?

Or is it just a Ferrari thing?

I think your talking about the seam and/or moulding, I believe it's where the upper and lower body panels are joined together and that is an easy way of dressing up the seam. Late model corvettes 84-96 all had a similar seam or joint. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable will chime in soon?

I remember reading an article (don't remember where) about Ferrari styling and they were talking about Ferrari being the first to bring in the two tone paint jobs, with the lower part being black. It was a styling que Pininfirina introduced to give the illusion the car seems lower than it actually is.

Hey, man. The real deal is these cars are LOW no matter WHAT color they are. LOL!

It is a construction joint in the body actually, as stated above. The upper and lower panels are welded along this channel. It is also the structural crash bar of the doors. (1 of 2, the other is concealed).

They are pretty strong! Don't ask me how I know!!! ;)
