For you lucky Europeans who could order this option: 1) Where are these options mounted into the car? 2) How much of the package shelf do they consume? 3) How's the rollbar covered? 4) How does it look overall? 5) Anyone know how much the rollbar weighs? For others like me in the US or Canada: I am very interested in ordering the rollbar and harness parts for dealer install (since I couldn't get those options in a US car). But I am reluctant to be the first to do this. 1) Anyone done this yet? 2) Anyone know how difficult this might be after delivery? 3) Anyone know what the rollbar weighs? Thanks, Brian
Hi Brian, Attached is a picture of the rollbar as fitted in the 360CS. This CS had leather seats etc. so the rollbar is covered in the same leather as the interior. Don't know how the alcanatra interior rollbar looks. My car (due in a few weeks) has the alcantara interior and roll bar. I'll post some pics of the setup when it arrives. Hope it helps. -- Brian
Harnesses are nicely fitted into slots behind the seats. They come with a soft sleeve to fit over the shoulder straps but I han't taken them out of the wrappings yet. They are also in red with same Prancing horse emblem.
Brian, I think I have the same concerns about the dealer installation. Even assuming perfect work, it seems like the installation of the bar will be fairly intrusive and require removal of the seats and some of the alcantara bits behind the seats. Also, to have a truly neat installation, it seems you might need to order quite a few euro spec parts - for example, in the posted pics, do you see how the harnesses feed through a slot behind the seat? Also, the US spec belts anchor at the shoulder to either side of the car - would we just have to leave some of those bits in place? I was ready to order the harnesses and bar, but have hesitated because what I really want is a euro spec interior rather than a one-off, and I'm not sure what that would cost to recreate. THANKS, bjc and wazza, for the photos! Will
One more thought. I love the harnesses and would have ordered my car with them, if possible. Nonetheless, after studying the photos, they look a bit skinny to me, there's no sub belt, and I wonder about the buckle at the waist. The factory set looks great for the street, but if you're really going to track the car hard, maybe the better option would be full on race harnesses.
Wow, thanks for the pics... a few questions though... 1) So, only the top (shoulder level and up) is covered? Below shoulder-level, is that painted gray? or is it bare aluminum and just picking up the surrounding grays in the picture? 2) Does the rollbar fit very close to the side walls? How does it mount into the floor? 3) When you say the harnesses fit into slots behind the seats... I assume you mean slots in the firewall? Can you give a close-up picture of that? 4) How comfy are the harnesses? I agree they look a little thin. WCH, what do you mean by a Euro-spec interior? I must be missing something... it looks just the same to me except for the addition of the harness and rollbar. What else do you see that's different?
Brian, 1)Roll bar. yes it's only covered from about shoulder height. The Aluminium is painted dark grey. Actually blends in quite well. 2)I'll need to get another look at the rollbar fitting although it is very tight to the side walls and roof. 3)Harness does fit into the fire wall. You can just about see it in pic1 4) I don't think the harnesses are as good as the ones on the Challenge cars they do feel a bit flimsy plus the lock is made of some sort of plastic much the same type of clip as you see on the 360M. They are resonably comfortable when you have the padded sleeves over the shoulder sections. Sorry Brian, You'll need to see some better photos . I will try and get some for you over the weekend although my camera is not very good but i'll try anyway. Also the extguisher gets a fair amount of vibration. It's side mounted with little feet to the floor. The feet are not fixed to the floor, I guess if you choose carpets they could just slide it undneath but without carpets it's not tight therefore vibration.HHMM!! Again i'm not sure how well it shows up in this photo, I'll ty to get a better one. The flash is making all the back look very grey. So don't be put off by the colouring in these photos. **** camera! Wazza
could you also check if the rollbar would clear the OEM 3 point seatbelt mounting point? - from your picture it is exactly in the same spot and the seatbelt mount sticks 2.5 mm out in my car - I would not like to remove the OEM installation
Make sure i've got this clear. YOu need at least a 2.5mm clearing between the bulkhead/firewall and the rollbar. OK. i'll check. Wazza
Sorry for the delay But I hope this helps...... As for the 3 points seat belts they is enough room between the B Pillar and rollbar. The gap is about 2 cm. 1) B pillar and rollbar from the side.
2) B pillar and Rollbar from the front. BTW. When you run your fingures down the B pillar you can feel through the material the housing for the 3 point seat belts.
4) Rollbar fiitTing to bulkhaed/firewall I cannot see how it's actually fixed but can only show where it goes through the bulkhead/firewall.
