With fuel prices hitting an all time high I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone is paying per gallon. Last refuel $1.87 for 93 at Sunoco in Westood, NJ
When you factor in inflation, wages and the greater fuel economy of modern cars, it cost less to drive a modern car for 100 miles than it did in the 1950s. For example, say in 1950 you were making $0.50 an hour, gas cost $.0.20 a gallon and your car got 12 mpg; you therefore spent around $1.66 to drive 100 miles which took you 3.3 hours to earn. Now, the average income is around $10.00 an hour, gas cost $2.00 a gallon and cars average 25mpg; so, it now cost you $8.00 to drive that 100 miles which took you only 0.8 hours to earn. So, stop complaining because we all can now travel way cheaper than our grandparents could. In any event, I just paid $2.00 a gallon to fill up my M5.
If only the cars we drove got 25mpg. I'm not complaining, just interested in what everyone is paying.
If I did the conversion correctly, we're at $2.54 (US)/gallon for Regular unleaded. [$0.929 (CAD)/litre]. Not amused.
What ever you are paying in the US, here in the UK we will swap with you. Why? becourse we have one of the most expensive fuel in the world. With the gready wank goverment takeing %75 of every £1 of fuel. The gready gready B******S!!!!

$2.23 a gallon for 93 Octane at Mobil in Plymouth, MI(in between Ann Arbor and Detroit) NJ looks like it has the lowest prices right now.
Hmmm, 91 octane this morning for $1.86 with 3 cents off per gallon with Sam's card. Shell 93 octane at $2.13 in Euless, Texas. Chevron across the street $1.93-go figure...................
$2.09 at Mobil for Supreme. Compared w/ what I have to pay for Excursion, 355's gas receipt seems a relief.....
