Damn I was going to make my obligatory remark about all of Ferraris racing victories and heritage but Napolis beat me to it.This time he even came with the renoir story.

When my son who was about 4 at the time first saw it he said: "It looks out of focus" I was in the film biz at the time and he spent a lot of time on sets looking through the lens. Yes it is soft. The best painter of light IMO is Turner esp. "Rockets and Blue Light" There was a great exhibit of his paintings in Williams, Mass last summer. The New England painters like Hopper also understood light. It's interesting to note that the latitude of Rockport, Mass and Cannes are similar as is the light.

 

But you have to give Vermeer credit for indoor lighting.

 

Strange days.I jumped on this thread expecting the normal racing/numbers arent important/lambos look better stuff,and I get a dose of Renoir and fine art.Strange indeed.

Granted, but Bierstadt ain't too shabby either if you like big landscapes, but now we're veering *waaay* off topic. Gotta give you credit James for giving us something to shoot for...
