Anybody anxiously awaiting the new BSG?

I had a friend that worked on it as a 3D artist and I want to see it just for his work alone.

I might have a little sneak preview.

The Cylons look alot like Robby the Robot in the Lost in Space remake. Oblong heads, almost look cloaked. Long thin skeletal fingers. Very dark.

The whole mini-series is far darker than the original.

I'm a huge Science Fiction fan....but I don't watch the Sch fi channel.

Seems that the Sci Fi Channel takes any good Monster or space idea and turns it into a Drama (of USA Network or Life Time chick channel Quality) then they sprinkle some special effects in so they can call it SciFi

I've seen all the new artwork for Battel Star G and it looks good!
Lets just hope they don't turn this into a gay drama about people with emotional and relationship problems.

    Good Luck

    Here's the trailers guys: http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/trailers

Cylons that looks like humans? An Asian woman plays Boomer? Starbuck is female? It'll be different, that's for sure. The trailers look pretty damned good. Let's hope this new Battlestar kicks ass.

I grew up with show, after Star Wars came out, it was one of the best series on TV. Lets see how the new version does.

Does anyone remember Galactica 1980? It got cheezy then.

Having grown up in Spain I saw this show dubbed in Spanish. Hehehe.

I loved it back then although my memory or lack there of really don't do the show or my love for it justice. Do they have the old ones on DVD?

    Cheers

Guys I think that the passage of time may have altered your recollections of the show :)

I am a big fan of "good" sci-fi and being 36, BG was one of the shows that I too grew up on.

The Galactica itself was a cool looking ship and I really liked Adama and his daughter (can't remember her name, but I sure remember her looks) -also liked Starbuck, Lucifer ("By Your Command") with his sparkling lava-lamp head etc.....but that kid and his mechanical dog, those "King Tut" pharoah helmets, some of the hilarious plots....ugh!

I guess there's no point analyzing it I suppose. It is what it is and it meant something to a lot of us. A couple of years ago, the Canadian sci-fi channel started showing it again, and I eagerly watched a couple of minutes, then just couldn't take it anymore. Just not the same as when you're a kid.

    Joe

BTW - someone asked if it was available on tape or disc? See here.

Okay, sorry. It was 20 years ago, wrong damn show. Thanks for not pounding on me for the screwup. Erin Gray was a hottie in Buck Rogers...
Maren Jensen was a hottie in BSG...

It was always cheezy. But in the '70s, it was the only game in town.

After the demise of the original Trek, we had nothing but BS and Space 1999.

It wasn't until the Star Wars and Close Encounters box office receipts that people got interested in making SciFi for "da masses" (e.g. the idiot box).

With all the hype they've been giving the new BS, I suspect the marketing people figure they have a real albatross on their hands. If the people who made it figure it needs that much hype, ...

Where's "the control voice" when you really need it? ("Demon With a Glass Hand", "Bellero Shield", "Soldier" ... and for the babe factor, "ZZZZZZ")

I saw it and thought it was better than the early reviews have said.

The acting was a little weak in places, and Starbuck should have been a man, or they should have found a better woman to play the part.

I though the Cylon infiltration of the defense network was a little weak. You'd think they'd have a little better security on that guy who was supposed to be the genius considering his weakness for women and sex.

The effects were good, but I didn't understand the seemingly endless display of bodies being thrown into space during the attack sequence. A human form exposed to a 0-atmosphere environment like that would just explode.

Overall I'd give it a C+. Acting could have been better, it was a little slow in the beginning, and story could have been a little better, but I liked it.

Supposedly, tonights part 2 is supposed to be much better than last night.

I saw this and I thought it was some of the better sci-fi attempted for television or film in a long time.

Yes the acting was weak but I think this series has potential to be better then all the current Sci-fi series's out there. Enterprise has fallen apart and Sg-1 is just macgyver in a green ball cap.

Between watching two hours of the third matrix or two hours of BG sign me up for BG.

A good space war Opera/Drama is about tough commanders making hard choices, not "finding themselves" and revealing bs truth about their humanity. It's about hydrogen bombs, vengence and good soldiers who die for the cause and don't get resurected two episodes latter. Perserverence and overcoming seemingly impossible odds with luck and wits left sci-fi film a long time ago.

Now we get one special effects ****storm after another.

Sci fi authors however, have kept true to the genre in book form.
