Hey guys what should a 1997 Ferrari 456 GTA Swatters Blue/Tan with 7,000 miles go for. This is a car that belongs to a friend of mine and it has had the 30k Service with Belts. Any idea what a fair Retail Price should be? Car is perfect and belongs to my buddy.

My "Knee-jerk" guess would be around 90K..given the low miles and recent service.

you can buy 95 456s in Europe for just over $60K. I love the car, but it is not fully depreciated yet...

I think you can ask $90, but count yourself lucky if you actually get over 80 (and maybe less). And, expect it to be on the market for a while.

I'm curious if the automatic helps or hurts it on resale?

    Disclaimer: I own a 95 456, blue/tan.

I am also in the market for 456M, not 456. I prefer 6 speed than GTA which the newer models (M) are more difficult to find, especially with SHEILDS.

IMO 456M is a much better car than 456. I don't like the outdated look on the interior on 456. For perhaps 20K more, you can easily get the 99 456M rather than 97 456.

Market for 99 456 now about 95k (3 dealers across the nations). For 97 456 GT you can perhaps get it for $ 70k (unless you go to unreasonable ridiculous dealer)

If you are up for GTA I would get this one. Very nice one,

    www.huntingridgemotors.com in NY state

Lemans blue/sabia, shields with blue piping, less than 10000 miles.

    Good luck finding one.

One thing to keep in mind. A replacement auto box, which you may not be able to find goes for 56K. That's not a misprint.

Does it mean GT is better than GTA in maintenance?? What does it mean by "you may not be able to find goes for 56K"??

It means if the auto box goes a replacement auto box is 56K. The co. that made the box for Ferrari no longer does or will. That was the going rate Mike Sheean quoted in his article in SCM several months ago. Getting one that doesn't work fixed may be VERY problematic as well. I'd check with him before buying one.

Thanks everybody for their input. Mr. Shelbee I am not buying one, I am helping a friend. Please let me know if anyone is interested in this car.
