have you seen the pics of the 312 P in the general ferrari discussion ?

    what car is it ?

i´ve seen the 0872 of peter sachs at the cavallino classic 2003 - the car had a closed body and was in perfect condition.
the other remaining car 0870 is owned by bardinon/mas du clos as far as i know.
there was a third car 0868 that was rebuilt to the pininfarina show car - the yellow 512S and is owned by a french museum.

so i´m not sure if the shown car is a real 312 P - i think it has to be a remake.

what do the experts think ?

For me this car is 0872, so strange it seems. The dashboard is absolutely the same as the car at cavallino classic....

i can´t believe this car is 0872. it was in perfect fresh restored condition a few month ago. it took peter sachs some years to collect all the original parts and present the car as it should be.
why would he rebuild a perfect car ?

anyone out there who knows more ?

Not Gilles, it is well #0870, these photographs were snuff in 1990 on the Circuit of Mas du Clos of the Field at this period #0872 of Peter Sachs was not restored yet. It's true that now #0872 restored, they make really twin !

Scuderia CC, I talk about the pics post by BillGammon.... The dashboard post by him, is the same as the car seen at cavallino classic, steering wheel, position of rivets, switches, labels...
I agree with you, that the car of Mas du Clos is 0870.

The 312 P 0868 was damaged intesting (especially the rear) in 1969. the frame was used by Pininfarina to create the 512 S show car. they put a 612 Can Am block in it (0866). It was then presented at the Turin salon of the same year. it is now in the hands of a french collectioner. The 312 P and the 512 S show car are in my opinion two of the most amazing ferraris ever made... followed closely by the P3/P4.

    agree/disagree?

all i can say is that i feel as if i've died and gone to heaven after just finding this site......man oh man......anyhow, as soon as i can figure out how to do it, i'll post pics of some the ferraris that make up my 1/43 scale model collection (sad to say i can't afford the real thing)...the reason i posted here is that the 69 312p spyder is probably my all time favorite ferrari and i have a model of the #25 sebring car.....

In 1969 le Mans, it is in fact the 0872 (a new car)that raced registered as the 0868, previously engaged but unable to race due to an accident at Monza. The 0868 was then dismantled to serve as the basis for the 512 S show-car.
