Hi & good morning,

well back from the 1 day Luxor trip.
WOW it was amazing and worth all stress. We drove at 05o a.m. from Hurghada to Luxor 5 hours and came back at 23:00p.m.
YES, we have indeed seen everything:
-Kings Valley with the tombs of Ramses, Tut-en-Amun and 89 more tombs....incredible
-Hatschepsut temple...the only woman, very large and awesome surrounding in the mountains.
- Karnak temple...the most beautiful place.
- Nil crosssing with a smal boat

Gents, I have shot so many great pics and will post them (if you like to see them?) when we are back in Germany...no way to post pic from this internet coffee, sorry.

The drive to Luxor is a story od itsself.....everybody who has ever been there knows what I' m talking about!!!!!

We have met all the other busses in a city close to Hurghada and drove together in a convoy with 60 !!!!! busses, police, escorted and military.
Around 300 police and military did the escort for around 300 km to Luxor. Every road and traffic cross was closed for us....no it gave us a bad feeling. Always controll / check points / police with loaded guns and ....mhmm will tell and show you more when we are back.

Tonight we will take a again a cap (just 2 LE pounds = 0,30cents) to Hurghada to get a pretty fine sea food .

Today is just a relaxing day after yesterday and tomorrow we will drive again with the Quads in the desert.....man thats sooooooo funny!!!!!
And the guide always try (TRY!) to follow me with his QUAD....no way to catch me...must always wait for him.

Hi Trevi & Wolfgang,

It's going fine, thanks - I'm flying pretty well after 17 hours of instruction. I took the day off yesterday to do some personal administration and to take my mother to a medical specialist. Unfortunately not good news coming out of that consultation - my mother will be having an emergency medical procedure tomorrow. She will be having an angiogram in the morning and this will probably be followed by an angioplasty. Fifty years of smoking have taken their toll

So I have obviously cancelled my flying until there is more clarity about my mother's condition. Should all go well, I should get my "Touring Motorglider" license this weekend. If not.....then I won't.

It's a stressful time to say the least.

Thanks for your kind wishes. My mother goes in for the procedure at 05h30 CET tomorrow and I am obviously a little nervous about it. Please think of us.

Wolfgang, as I am the only child (and we have no other direct family), my mother is obviously very pleased to have me here at this time...and the feeling is mutual.

But sorry, just for around 1 hour a day. There is so many to do on a vaction;-). And don' t forget: Its an ALL INCLUSIVE hotel....so we MUST drink & eat the whole day as much as possible
But the Egypt camel-piss-beer still sucks badly....can' t get used in this kind of stuff.

wolfierosa, we are challenged! there's a immoral attack starting in the SoCal section to overtake No 1 in post counts. see http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=44488#post44488 and http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3498 in the UK section. SoCal is catching up and coming close.

i suggest that the UK guys (which are already passed by far) and the european section unite and defend ourselves jointly in the european section (of course in the bonkers thread).

so let's take the challenge and fight back!
