    Guys,

As some of you know, I have really taken to organizing (or helping) these drives. And as you know, I'm far, far from being the best / fastest guy out there. But, I very much enjoy taking these things out in our exotic convoys.

So my goal, simply, is to create a group of drivers who enjoy taking their cars out with some regularity. I've been driving the 550 everyday. But these Sunday drives we do keep me going for a week.

As you can tell, I've been recruiting people from all over (pick up races with Murcies is a good way :D ) in an effort to get this going.

So what I'd like to propose is something with regularity. Perhaps a bi-weekly affair. The second and fourth Sundays of every month (with scheduling exceptions, of course)?

What are your thoughts? I'm going to start actively pursuing individuals all over (the best place to meet owners seems to be the different workshops).

I don't drive my car everyday, but would love to get in on some regular drives. Family obligations might not allow me to attend every drive, but I would attend at least one a month for sure. So I vote yes for this idea.

It's definitely much funner driving my car in company of other sports car fans, Ferrari or otherwise. Yesterday was my first time doing such, and I really enjoyed it.

Dan- sounds great! We've got such a wonderful group going, I'd really like to see it come to the next level.

What say we keep the breakfast run type concept, and maybe expand it with a drive somewhere (Winery, senic town, Jet Aircraft, etc.) for lunch and the like.

I will help where I can.

    Best!
    Ben.

I think the next run should be San Juan Batista. Ferdi's already asking about this weekend! :D

    Gee Dan,

Its good to see you have goals. hehe

Sounds good. I love these events. I do like country roads better than freeway, because I go too fast on the freeway. But I'm ready for any SJB anyday. This coming weekend might not be good for me though. Things are still up in the air at this point, but people are quickly determining how I should spend my time, something I' not necesarily crazy about. Anyway, keep up the goal setting.

    Being smart, (pun intended)

Great idea, Bob ... Dan .... Bob .... Dan...

A couple times a month would be good, but could we do one of them on a saturday? That would give a lot of us a bit more flexibility. I think we might want to move the time back to the earlier slot. Too much traffic after 8.30. Also, too much traffic makes Faisal drive all crazy, thinking he's in England and using the right shoulder as a real lane to pass people. And then you go nutso running around your car with your hands waving in the air like your ass is on fire!!! Definitely, a sportscar in motion is a good thing.

I like Saturdays too, but some complain about unavailability.

So perhaps one day a month on sat, one on sunday. Also, I have no problem with catching an earlier time.

Besides...my 'Chinese Fire Drill' was amusing, non? Still don't understand what's Chinese about it...

Norm, sorry you couldn't stay longer. It's been a long time since we chatted. Besides the San Juan Batista thing, a nice early breakfast/coffee would be good every so often. I will set one up soon.

Faisal: How abotu we do this: breakfasts on Sundays, drives on saturdays?

I think that will accomodate everyone. It seems that the Sunday people show up then because they can't get away from the family or work on saturdays, and sunday morning is a free time. For them, breakfast and a short drive is about all they can manage w/o getting into spousal trouble.

For the others, Saturday and Sunday both are pretty open, and so using Saturdays to our advantage might be a good thing.

    What say you?

I'm so proud of you, Boba. Sounds like a good plan.
Faisal, I do wish I could have stayed. It was great fun, though. Let's do a HMB run soon. I might even be able to do it this weekend, baby willing.

Don't forget the members that live in the sticks! I am in Sonora and I know there are other members in Fresno and Lodi. My wonderful girlfriend of a million years owns the restaurant and catering facility at our local golf club, Mountain Springs in Sonora. She would do a great meal for a bunch of us on a Gold Country Run (about $25-$30 a head for dinner). Maybe a golf day and dinner? I can cordon off parking.

    Looks like a 360 coupe.

This spring we should take Peter up on the Gold Country Drive. The roads are great, and its a fun place to take a quick little ride.

If this is of interest, we need to pick a date on Melodie's schedule pretty soon. A Saturday in April would be good. Options:

    1) We could meet at the 120/108 junction and drive to Yosemite and then to Sonora.
    2) Meet in Stockton and drive to Jackson for a sandwich then south to Angles Camp and then to Columbia. Columbia is a great old-west town that is closed to car traffic. I good walk about for an hour (shops, blacksmith, bar, etc). Then to Mountain Springs in Sonora for dinner. The Best Western in Sonora is a good place to stay overnight. I could arrange for parking security from 9:00 to 9:00AM...Better yet, drink all night at Melodies bar, leave the cars at the golf course (with security) and cab to the Best Western.

BETTER YET! Have dinner and cocktails at the golf course and have the Blackoak Casino bus pick us up and take us to the casino! Its 15 minutes away and a very fun place, then to the Best Western for the over-nighters. Back to the golf course on Sunday for Melodie's brunch..YUM!
