This is one of the first things to go on the Porsche 911s. What is the best way to get the higher limit speedo in these cars? I would imagine that replacement speedos are very, very expensive...

    Any suggestions?

Not at all. Remove it and send to Palo Alto Speedometer, they will redo the face and calibrate. Contact Helmut, the owner, for details of cost and turn around time.

BTW, if you check the archives there are tons of answers to questions like these with additional places you could send your speedometer to. This just happens to be the place I have used for repairs. I have a friend who sent his speedometer to them for the conversion you speak of, for his 308.

Right - I did search the archive, and I saw only a single post about Palo Alto - I was wondering if that was the 'right' way to go, as the speedo looks like it would only go to about 120 with that route.

    Wayne,
Don't guess or speculate....call Helmut, he will explain what he does, what it will look like, and what it will cost. My buddy had them do his, and it now looks like any other 308 speedo, fwiw.

Do they do the mod that actually makes the car do 180mph?
