You know it just occured to me. The "Arteest", as you say, should utilize his vast talent and bondo ONE TOOTH into the front grille!! That would really finish it off appropriately, don't you think?

"Is the man made out of Bondo?"

That statement just about made me cough up my morning coffee.

Whew, what a blast. Actually the man is an artist and talented. Seriously. He is just using the wrong media. Imagine if he'd use his hands on sand castles or ice sculptures, he could make real beauties.

And I do have to say you gotta applaud him somewhat for his obvious passion. I mean he at least tried to get the details right, so he must have studied some pictures of the 355. Just a tad misguided. Maybe more than a tad...

Frank, thanks for sharing. Now we need to send Kim and Michelle over to this clown to show him how it should be done.

MarkPDX, what is that avatar? Is it the FLUX generator from the De Lorean?

Glad you liked them, too,Andreas. Yes,as I said all along. The guy DEFINITELY has his heart in the right place, and the "eveness" is pretty incredible. But,all that aside,HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! It IS pretty damn funny! Also, yes,Bill came up with some pretty funny replies. "Is the guy made out Bondo?" I almost had an aneurism on that one. And,"CoughCough Cough,Skronk!" "Skronk". Is that something from "Mad Magazine"? Too funny! All day long,I kept thinking about "Skronk" and it brought a smile to my face! Thanks,Bill! Also, thats why I was saying that it was such a shame. All that hard work,sanding,etc...on a PLIABLE,PLASTIC bodied car. Did you ever apply Bondo, with a plastic spatula. When it dries, and if you bend or flex the plastic, the Bondo cracks right off. I'm sorry to say, when he hits a pothole or some RR tracks, especially on a real cold day....well,all I can say is,I don't want to be in the car behind him! :)

    Hi Guys,
Yes, contrary to what you may percieve from my posts regarding repops, I do recognize that people who spend the money/effort to build/create these things have laudable aspirations. I spoke only regarding my personal preferences. I have made do with cars that fit within my financial abilities. I do still have the first car I ever bought, a '66 MGBGT. I have had a number of sports cars and mortorcycles and have always appreciated them for what they are. This God of Bondo has talent and motivation, but as a number have said he seems a little miguided.

"SKRONK" is a long story, to cut it short, my sister while sitting at the family dinner table one evening, coughed up a large chunk of insufficiently masticated food. SKRONK, was the sound that she produced when the food issued forth.

    Regards,
    Bill

On a related and more serious note I took my car to a shop today and asked them what could be done about the crack I made in the front wing. They said they would sand it, bondo it and repaint it. But they also warned me, that the Bondo eventually will crack and it will look bad again.

So I asked about just applying fiberglass and they said it would be hard in that location (bottom of the Euro wing). They said the best would be to replace the entire wing.

    :(

So what is this Bondo then good for if it cracks anyway? Should I just try it? Maybe I should ask Mr. Fiero 355 Bondo, he seems to be an expert.

Coincidentally enough, "SKRONK" was also quoted in *Cracked* Magazine, which is to MAD Magazine what Bondo Fiero's are to Ferrari. Cheaper 'n datin' yer own sister.

That is FUNNY! "Skronk". But,it DOES kind of look like a "Mad Magazine" word! (cool) Hope you don't mind, but my 12 year old Daughter, who had inherited my Sophomoric sense of Humor,is adding "Skronk" to her vocabulary list specifying bodily functions,specifically,"Hurl","Barf","Spew",...you get my drift! And,by all means,I ,hopefully, would never come across as criticizing anyone for expressing their opinions in regard to "Replica's". Whether someone else likes them or not. But,personally, I do like a NICE,GOOD one. Why not? It's not a big deal, really,as long as I'm not the guy driving it! :) And,I get a good laugh out of a bad one. But,with this particular guy. All along,as I laughingly described this car,I also mentioned his Bondo application and sculpting abiliities. And,that despite this incredibly scary attempt, his heart, though,is definitely in the right place. But.... THAT CAR IS FUNNY!!!! :):):):):):):

Andreas. Yes,the Bondo will be O.K....for a while. You are better off just cleaning it out really good, and using a Fiberglas repair kit, available at any Auto Parts store. The Fiberglas cloth and resin is very strong, yet more "Flexible" than Bondo. Bondo doesn't flex at ALL. That is exactly WHY it will crack. No flexion. That little crack on your car should be very easy to fix, with the Fiberglas Repair kit. And,to "Touch it up" with paint should be,too,as that's not in a very conspicuous spot. . I fixed many a crack in old Corvette's,but that was several years ago,and am "out of practice". But,it's really very easy. I have a book around, somewhere, that shows how to do Fiberglas repairs on Corvettes. If I can find it,I'll get it to you to reference. But,it is,really, very easy. Put the cloth and resin on behind the crack on the spoiler. Put resin over it. Put some over the front, too. But,first,Fill the crack with some resin, too. Let it dry. Sand it,prime it,paint it,and Voila! If we found "Bondo Man",to do your car, you'd end up with a rendition of The Batmobile,or something! NOT good! Don't let those guys try to talk you into a whole new wing/spoiler that you don't need! That's is a very easy fix! AND,you do want to keep the original, right? Otherwise,Mr.Hooper,at Italian Auto and Design,in Phoenix. Has the DEEP Euro spoilers,I think around $600.00,if memory serves me correctly! He has originals, too.

Holy crap... That's a really piss-poor replica... i don't like putting people down, to each his or her own, but the copy is just really bad... i will say, however, that it's obvious that the owner put a lot of hard work into it... Tried to get as many of the 355 details as possible... Can't knock the person for their hard work... It's art... Just not art we would want...

Of all the crappy replicas that I've seen.....this one is....well.....different. It's not a kit, or some unfinished project off ebay, but one guy's creation of a dream. And I must agree with the many comments about the guys heart being in the right place. If I could meet this guy I'd take him for a ride in my Testarossa, and gladly share any knowledge I have with him to get him on the path to true Ferraridom. I wish I could explain it...this compassion I have....but I can't. This "car" strikes me as a genuine attempt, and not the "costume jewelry like" replicas that I absolutely hate with every fiber of my being. I would imagine that if this guy got a taste of a real Ferrari....he would take a ball bat to that car he created, realizing that it borders on being an unforgivable sin.

So what do you consider Ford's attempt to to replicate the original GT 40, or if Ferrari were to start making 250 GTOs again?

Are they real, or are they 'Memorex'? :)

VERY interesting question. I like it.

Imagine for a moment they would be making 250 GTOs again, wouldn't that be a total downlet of its own myth? I've never driven in one, but I think compared to today's cars and their power it would be nothing too cool. A GT 40 still hauls a_ss, but a 250 GTO? Wouldn't they have to completely redo the suspension and beef up the engine? Maybe I got my numbers wrong, but I thought it had less HP than a modern V-8 Ferrari, let alone a V-12.

IMHO. Ferrari could make "Re-issue's" of the 308. (like the Ford GT) Now,everyone has their favorite Ferrari, and will argue that it should be the model that they like. And I'm not just saying 308 because I have one. But,undeniably, the 308 is THE most recognizable Ferrari ever built. Thats to EVERYBODY,not just Ferrari guys. Also, the poor 308 continually gets a "bum rap" because, some say,"They built SO MANY of them". "So many" by Ferrari standards. But,in the American car world, say, the number of 308's that were built would make it rare and more valuable by that, alone. Everybody agrees that the 308 looks great...timeless. I CONSTANTLY get people asking me if my car is "New". Probably, due to that "timeless" look. Agreed that the 308 is one of the best handling "Road Ferrari's". Imagine a "New" 308. Maybe A little bit wider? With all of the Power,Features, and creature comforts of today's Ferrari's. Anti-lock brakes. F1 tranny? (I'd "stick" with a 6 speed, myself) All wheel drive? Not neccessary, but possibly a cool option. It would still look "Modern",but, will actually BE modern. 400+ Horsepower. More, you say! I agree! Can you imagine? When I saw the Bright Red Ford GT (GT40) at the Chicago Auto show, last year. I EASILY envisioned it as a brand new 308. Low,wide, flat, timeless. And,the Ford GT is from the SIXTIES! Again,IMO,what makes the 308 ,possibly "less attractive" to Ferrari "purists" would make it more attractive to new Ferrari buyers. Almost everyone loves a 308. Maybe, put in a 5.0 liter V8. Call it the 508!? Just my .02c! But,really. Think about it for a second. Wouldn't it be cool? A "same" but "different" car. So,wouldn't harm the "value" of the original, which,if you ever check out "www.wreckedexotics.com" like I do. See that the original 308's ARE getting fewer everyday! (thus,Rarer...one at a time!)

Personally I like the idea of a retro Ferrari or a rerelease. With updated features that is. Today's Ferraris are too wind tunnel shaped (not including the Enzo of course).

I wouldn't want to see a reborn 308. No. I guess I would love to see the P4 redone. That'd be only fitting as the rival to the GT-40. Sheesh, makes me think about Glick who actually has one of each. Of the originals...

When the Chicago Auto Show comes in February. Check it out,and see the Ford GT. Tell me it doesn't remind you of a 308. It really does to me. Low,wide,flat,pointy,RED...:) I've been going to the Chicago Auto Show since I was 10.(1970) When they were showing BRAND NEW 'Cuda's,'Vettes, Charger's,Challenger's,Chevelle's,Camaro's,can go on and on. And,the prices for these BRAND NEW CARS were around $4-5,000.00,TOPS! (except the 'Vette's,or,Hemi cars. Just a little bit more for one of those!:) ) Personally,I'd RUN out to buy a "New 308",over a 360!

Yo Frank, it's me, NoWives, Mr. Darolls new friend and that Fiero is mine--so lighten up on me already!!

The prison M.D. said I needed a project so as to "re-focus" my violent nature. So I went on work release, joined the Ferrari Club, and the result is this fine automobile.

How about Laocoon with his sons in Bondo?

BTW: Over the weekend I used tons of Bondo on a Ferrari... 1/18 scale F50. The stuff is not that great to work with however. I prefer modeler's putty. The transition to GT is coming out nicely though. Currently in the paint shop.
