Both events are very good it just depends on whether you you prefer vintage or modern.
The revival weekend uses the race curcuit whereas the Fetival of speed only uses the hillclimb track but has a better static display.
    Your choice.

As for hotels, there are some very good top end hotels in the area but quite expensive and you would need to book early.
Also lots for good reasonably cheep B&B's.
I don't know about cheap end hotels but i'm sure there must be some.

    Good luck

They are both great events in their own right. Why not go on the Goodwood website (www.goodwood.co.uk) and buy a copy of the video for each event, this sould give you a better idea.

As far as hotels are concerned, i have always left it till the last minute(day of event) for both events and have always got into the local Hilton.

My advice would be to join us at Le Mans next year. An event where i guarantee you would have the time of your life.

    Regards

    Stewart

Having regularly attended both events I personally prefer the Festival of Speed. Great static displays and some action on the hill climb.

The revival meeting is special and is set back in time with people dressing in period clothing.

    regards

I haven't been to the revival yet but I can cetainly recommend the festival of speed. I have gone most years since 94 and it is truly a wothrwhile event.

    Cheers

lemans is on our calendar. perhaps next year. but not having been to goodwood it looks like a great time. it seems the action is a bit more acssessible. the revival seems to be more of what we are looking for. old cars for old guys. as for period clothes all i've got to do is go to the back of my closet :). i still wonder is there a caravan car park near the site.

    Pls see attached link;

Under "enquiries & information" there's mention of caravan parks nearby.

Given I followed the experienced Stewart last year I would also advise to avoid Petworth as the village becomes absolutely jam packed. We sat for over an hour at less than 2 mph studying his rear bumper.

I stayed at the Marriott Goodwood lodge once on a visit. Nice grounds, golf course, rooms OK. db7 in lot. Don't do what i did though. Arrived late at night after flying all day, then drove down to that hotel and got lost. roundabouts everywhere, terrible signage, and when in the countryside there is nothing but pitch darkness. If you have a chance to stay near london stay at the marriott hanbury manor, now thats a place that should have a couple exotics out front.
