Has anyone here driven one or seen one in person?

Seems like a great route to go if you want to track with a budget.

I have only seen one in person, but did not get a chance to drive it.
I don't know if it was the owners lack of ability or what,
but the car was tail happy, rear was all over the place and could not hook up properly.
I had thought that they were pretty cool before I saw one in person.

Dave the car you saw probably either did not have the suspension set up correctly or it was being improperly driven. There are 2 guys who drive them up in the NE, a yellow 1 & a blue 1, very impressive, great quality, around 2300 # & 450 hp, Killer performance, a real rocketship. Not cheap though as a 450 hp version can cost you $150k or so but there is precious little that can hang with 1 at the track

Been in several, driven two. Unquestionable performance, but questionable looks, comfort (streetability), and reliability. Maintenance costs can be (very) high, and it also means significant time off the road.

The new Mosler is a very attractive car around the same price, Ive heard reliability is not 100% & the interior is very rough

You might also consider the Noble M12. Same designer as the Ultima, with a 380 hp twin turbo v-6. It's an F-40 for the common man, good for street use and track days.

the ultima website has pix of a spider version that looks great - like a 1970's sports racer. my personal favorite track day car since its posible to drive it to events instead of towing. would need desert climate though since spider has minimal weather protection.
