First one I've seen all year. Guess they are much rarer and collectible than our Ferraris. Saw a Yugo pushing along at 60-65 mph in Houston.

Was it stock? I've seen some converted to art cars running around but thats about it. I had a G/F in collage that had one but it never ran. I wonder if they be a hot item for collectors at Barrett/Jackson?

Totally stock on the outside, though I was wondering as I passed it if had a new tranny and engine. No way those things could still be running well enough to head down the Gulf Freeway.

Yugo -- an Italian car built in eastern Europe. I had one in college, and believe it or not it was light and chuckable enough to be a lot of fun even at slow speed.

There's a couple that compete at autocrosses, mostly highly modified with Fiat 128 and X1/9 parts. Here's a link to one that makes 230 HP (?!!) Beware the popups.

    Another that's a champion autocrosser

There's one sitting behind a local apartment complex, and the odd thought sometimes crosses my mind that it might be a fun autocrosser. There's no way that an inspector would know what was stock on one of those :D

I remember one time Leno did a funny piece on new car models. One of them was the "Nowhere" made by Yugo. Yugo Nowhere.

Actually, I saw a yellow pinto yesterday. The body looked good for its age. Maybe tomorrow I'll get lucky and see a Pacer or Gremlin.

Saw a fairly stock-looking Vega last month. Course, then again, I live in East Tennessee....

A car that's getting really rare is a Fiero ... one that isn't pretending to be something else. ;)

The stock Yugo I saw in Houston a few months ago was navy blue.

AKA / TDF Blue for 4RE.

A Trabant would also make a nice novelty car.

Yugo was supposed to be making a comeback to the USA. There was an article in Forbes two and a half years ago and I haven't heard anything sense.

    http://www.forbes.com/2002/04/23/0423yugo.html

I'd totally drive a yugo as my around town car, ha! I'm driving a 1978 Fiat 131 wagon right now so a new Yugo would probably be faster, ha!
