Finally got the interior back together this week, after a 6 weeks of dis-assembly and elbow grease ! The finished effect is, even if I say so myself, Like new ! I bought the Rejuvenator Oil from Leatherique, (F-Chat Sponsor), and it's had a fantastic effect on the hide, It now feels like newly 'connolised' leather and even smells new, I did the centre console and dash while I was at it, All have come up a treat - highly recommend it, All you guys with the newer stuff probably won't be interested but us oldies need to lubricate everything ! Absolutely Tony, All 272 true production models were LHD, I have heard a rumour of a bodged conversion, but have never seen it. I say 272 'TRUE' production models, because there are 2 Ferrari mules used for testing that were rebuilt by the factory for 'Special Customers' one of which is painted Giallo Fly, another unique feature, because all the others were painted a special shade of Rosso Corsa, It's actually for sale at the moment on dennigcars.com. Cheers, Steve
Tony, Right again, Eddie's car is similar to mine, but his has the optional Black and Red Leather seats and 'orange' inserts in the dash - His VIN is 53789, Mine's a later car. Here's a few more pic's - This one taken in Sept. this year on dark and dismal day just before I took it Italy for a holiday. Cheers, Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login
Steve, Stunning car.Do you thibk Tubi will offer after -mkt exhaust for it?I'd like to hear that if they do........ Tony
yes, manu fitted it, decatted version.makes me smile every time i go through a tunnel! don't suppose you fancy popping down south this w/end? few of us are meeting sunday lunchtime......appreciate the distance involved, however. tony
I remember seeing a programme with him showing his cars. I recall the 288 & that all paving stones made up one large prancing horse on the floor. I wish i'd taped it now Steve328, what a car
yeah, irvine's got a tough life.....3 or 4 ferrari's , couple of yachts, the odd helicopter... mind you, he won't be able to drive 288 gto in the uk once he turns up to receive his recently imposed ban! guess there is justice after all!!!
Thanks for the invite Tony, I often see you guys making plans & wished I lived closer, This weekend I'm off on the Orient Express, It's my Birthday next week and Wifey is treating me for the Weekend, Maybe next time, Although I've got to admit, I wouldn't bring the GTO out in this inclement weather, Might risk the 328 though ? Look forward to the next one...... Badapple....Thanks. ATB, Steve
very nice....i've been on it myself and it was fantastic .like stepping back in time. have a great time regards tony
Steve I love the condition of your car. Looks stunning. How many miles has it done so far, and how many do you put on it a year?
Steve, Need someone to baby-sit the GTO for the weekend?? Wonderful cars - I have had the opportunity to sit in the driver seat of one - It took a crowbar to pry me out of the seat!! What part of the UK are you? Would love to see another one in the flesh!! Paul
Steve, I've just picked my jaw off the keyboard after looking at your car. I don't know what it looked before your hard labour but it really looks fantastic. I'd love to see it in the "flesh" sometime. Philip
Steve out of interest, apart from the initial cost of the car, what sort of league is it in running cost wise? I see you work on it yourself, but who services it?
Just had a look Steve, and the only red 288 they have there is listed as being in the USA. Have you already sold it? Kevin
Kevin, No my car's not for sale, I doubt that will ever happen, (Never say never), The Yellow GTO that I told Tony about is for sale... Not mine, Steve
Running costs aren't to bad providing you don't do anything silly to the body, (Major expense for replacement panels), Normal servicing is about on par with say a 550/575. Can be harsh on clutches if you don't get it right, Tyre wear is probably the most expensive on going cost, To me anyway. Cheers, Steve
