Love the Fiat Spiders! I was going to buy one but I had a real hard time finding one in good condition...so I ended up with a good deal on my Mustang. I wish I had waited just a little longer and gone Fiat though...

It was great going through the early 70s fuel crisis with 30 mpg and a 6 gallon tank. :)

I agree with you Sam, it is great to see that Ferrari owners aren't snobs and that they recognize how special Fiats actually are. My 84 Pininfarina will have to due for a while until I can afford to get a 308.

First car was a 1200 Cabriolet. I still have two X1/9s (a '74 and an '86). Been looking at a 1500 Osca powered cabriolet, but my damn worth-only-$25K-TR needs another influx of money. I shoulda bought a Supra... I hear they'll whip any Ferrari even on a bad day...

I've owned two 1964 1500 cabriolets, 2400 dino coupe, and three 131/bravas. I drive a 131 wagon as my daily driver. So I guess that makes me a Fiat guy, ha!

Yep forgot to mention that I owned three Lancia Scorpions and Lancia Zagato previously.

    Currently I have

    67 Maserati Mexico soon
    72 Maserati Indy
    73 Ferrari 365
    81 FIAT Spider
    86 Maserati Spyder

My driver is the FIAT. It has been through more rain etc. without problem than any previous car. It has some mods like being the coldest FIAT known to man. My mechanic took the back seat out and replaced it with a huge evaporator and dual fans. I can get the car down to 55 cabin temp in the Texas August heat of 105+

I also run it with my hard top most of the year accept for the late spring.

FIAT began on 11th July 1899 when Societa anima Fabbrica Italiana di Automobili - Torino was formed.
The first care was a 3 1/2HP (or 4HP) with 679cc engine and capable of 35km/h. Around 25 were produced.
This was produced in teh factory on Corso Dante where 150 workers were employed. Other models followed sonn, the 8, then 10, then 12HP.
The 8HP was first front engined Fiat, with a two cylinder 1082cc engine producing 10hp, built at a rate of one per week.
The 12HP, with a 3768cc engine was the first Fiat to be widely exported, around Europe and to the US. A total of 134 were built.

Fiat did produce a 500 that was basically the Fiat clone of the mini cooper. As I remember actually under license of Austin. Something to that effect anyhow.

The british mini debuted in 1959. The Fiat 500 began with the Topolino 500 from 1936 and just evolved from there.

I don't see much similarity between the front-engined Mini and the rear-engine Fiat Nuova 500 which debuted in 1957.

Yep like I said did not remember if it was the 500 or not, but I do remember that one of the FIATs was a mini clone. Somebody else may remember which model.

That would be the Innocenti Mini. I have seen a few of them back in the early 70's when Mini fans were bringing them into the country.
