I had a great 71 (pre-l) and loved it. A little loose in the caboose, but it was great fun in a straight line.

The block is stock bore and stroke. Some of the engine upgrades are:

    TRW Forged pistons
    Ported exhaust
    Crane roller rockers
    Lunati 284 cam
    Holley 700 double-pumper
    K&N air filter
    MSD distributor and ignition system
    Roll-bar in engine bay

Tires are 225/50/15 in front, 255/50/16 in back, both Dunlop Pilot Sport 8000's. Not many tires available for these old, small wheels anymore, though the wheels are only 12 years old.

Pain is BMW Biarritz Blue. Interior is completely redone in a light, tan, leather interior. You can read more on the car from the former owner (some details or no longer accurate): http://www.panteracars.com/higgs.html

There is nothing Lamborghini about a Pantera. And the old, "[Insert car here] is a poor man's [insert more expensive car here]" is a trite cliche, and rude.

    Matt,

Being rude was not Intention, I meant it as a compliment, Being compared to Lamborghini is no put down. I'm sorry you took it the wrong
    way.

Sorry, my bad for jumping the gun.

How about this though, a Lamborghini is a rich man's Pantera? 'Course, that'd probably tick of the Lambo folks, hehe.

I owned a 71' pre-L fairly stock in good condition for about 4 years.

Great power and value for the money. Much faster than the carbed 308 I also had at the time but did not handle as well.

The Ford engine parts were relatively inexpensive but anything that was specific to the Pantera was about as expensive as Ferrari parts.

I always felt it was a mid engined muscle car. I enjoyed the car while I had it.

I sold it to a gentleman named Mike Daily who started a wonderful site

    www.panteraplace.com

Take a look at his site. If you are interested in Panteras you will be there for hours.

A lot of people who are into upgrading their cars, most often concentrate on engine, interior, and paint. Most often overlooked is suspension. I myself am guilty of this, but it's something I'd like to look in down the road--Pantera suspension upgrade. It's still really good for being a 30yr old design, but something modern sure couldn't hurt.

Drew, I know Mike Dailey's car. My father knew it when it was owned by the gentleman in McAllester, Oklahoma! Small Pantera world...

    Hi Matt,

Yea small world. Mike has done a great job with the car and with his web site.

I purchased the car from a gentleman in Texas. Proir to that it spent most of its life in Oklahoma.

It was really a great car to blast around in during the weekends and fun to work on.

    Regards,

    Drew

...Well if you do want to give it up let me know. I would love to take it off your hands. Promise to give it a nice home next to other fast and exotic cars.

I'am having the usual rust repaired and 6 coats of paint and bondo removed. It was red when I purchased it last year and I'am taking it back to it's original color, Yellow! Then I'am going to build a stoker motor later this year. I can't wait! I have never driven this car.
