Without quoting what the other person said at the top of their new post? My god, it's driving me insane! Unless the thread goes on a tangent, can't we just REPLY anymore? Or how about something like, "Good one Jim, but my thoughts are..." Just my .02.

Look for another reply button on the left below all the posts in a thread.

Good one Tork but my thoughts are this is a discussion - so it helps if you quote as your comments are in reference to the quote.

    Just my 0.02

Just curious as to why it drives you insane - I find it helpful to see the quote.

Why? Because for one thing you have to scroll through 3 miles of quotation before you can read what the person is actually trying to say. Example:
    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3484
Now Jon has a great post here, but try getting to the actual responses.

How about just quoting the portion of the previous post. You don't have to repost the whole thing.

If you click the "Post Reply" button on the lower left, the previous post is not quoted.

If you click the "Reply" button on the lower right, you get the quote and can edit it to your heart's content. Rob gave us all kinds of flexibility...

One reason they have the reply to thread and a reply to post is there's a hybrid setting (turned off right now) that one thread can branch off. This is good for those tangent threads within a thread, but bad because it's messy.

I like the quoting feature, but I will never quote a long message - Just makes things messy.
