    and here's a red 360 - not quite so "close-up".

in the 355 the challenge grille makes a real difference in engine compartment temperature. i considered having mine painted yellow, but never pulled the trigger.

i don't know if the 360 challenge grille makes such a big diff, but this guy seemed to want body-color plus challenge grille.

    doody.

Is that a Venturi in the background down there?

IMO black is better, I think the painted look is a bit strange. That said, I like my black car with the Challenge Grill.

The reason the color looks different, especially from afar is because the dark holes actually make it look darker. When color matching this is noticable. For chrome or black grilling, you will never notice. Also, the brighter the color, the more striking the color differrence will SEEM to be, even though the match may physically be perfect.

Personally (and this is just my opinion as someone in the art world) I think that the painted challenge grilles look like @$$. Completely gross from any perspective except incredibly far away, at which point even things such as Monica Lewinsky seem attractive.

    Just my $.02 ...

Yeah, that looks sweet. I think that the black grill looks cheap. Don't listen to the purists, they are only happy if it is 100% stock, and we all know stock sucks. If you are happy with it that's what counts. I say it looks waaaay better than black.

don't like it. looks like those springy lawn chairs from the 60's with the wire mesh.

I prefer the black as it reminds me of the Testarossa's rear with the contrasting black strakes against the body color.

Never really though of painting a challenge grill before now... hmmm.

Does reducing the temp in the engine compartment of a 355 make a difference in performance or otherwise???

We had a customer that requested it, and after getting his painted, 2 weeks later the car is back and the paint is getting stripped off and the black is going back on.

    Does that tell you anything?

My .02 euro, Not worth it. It breaks up the rear end well. (that can be taken the wrong way, so no comments DES)

Yeah! Sounds neat! Has anyone painted one on a CS and carried the stripe through it? I think it would be ugly but I want to see it anyway!

ugly! Why bother installing a black challenge grille just to end up painting it? I guess for air cooling, but certainly not for looks!
