    Hi,
Presently an ex IMSA 308 is for sale in the UK - heavily modified with spoilers, rollcage, the works.
It is fitted with a 328 engine producing 400 hp.
This engine has been modified with a Weber Alpha injection system (and probably a lot more).
Anybody have more information about this injection system?

    brgds

    Kurt

No, I saw it in "Auto Italia", a british publication on italian cars.
When I get home, I can provide the VIN, as it is mentioned in the article.

    How interesting.
Normally aspirated 400hp on gas? Wow.
Any info on the engine set up you can relay from the article would be great!
Will have to go out and find that magazine here in the colonies.
    thanks

This is Marelli's alpha-n engine management system, OEM on the F40 and common to modern Formula One engines.

Alpha-n stands for throttle angle (position)= alpha, and engine revolutions= n. The system calculates the proper spark and fuel volume and timing based primarily on these two parameters, plus intake air and engine coolant temperature compensation.

Main advantages is sophistication with simplicity and hence reliability, and no intake restrictions as with airflow sensors.

If you have concerns over servicing this system, anyone with modern fuel injection experience should have no trouble with maintenance. As I stated, typically quite reliable.

And 400 hp is possible with an unrestricted Ferrari 3.0 liter, especially if they're turning high rpm and high BMEP.

    HTH,

    Rob Schermerhorn

    Excellent, Rob...

I think that the RPM limiter was set at 9200 on that 328 engine, but as I said, I will be back with more info.
I wonder why nobody has come across this solution before, considering the many posts on modification of both 3.0 and 3.2 engines lately.

Just curious - how did 355F's answer get into Rob's as if Rob is responsible for the whole answer?

    Dear 355F,

Careful how you edit a quotation. You may edit the quote, but make certain your reply is placed after the {/QUOTE} brackets. I did not write your comments though it apears as such.

You have time to edit this mistake though. :)

    Best regards,
