I am new here and spent a fair amount of time searching this subject without much luck - so sorry if this is old hat...but.. Can anyone tell me what aftermarket wheels fit a 308 ferrari, including Ferrari wheels if they make upgrades to my stock 14 inch rim (1979 car). Manufacturer names or websites would be of help. Also, any recommendations of tire sizes and opinions on what constitutes "acceptable Ferrari aftermarket items" if there is such a thing. Thanks
Hey, rookie! The deal is to go with OEM reproduction 16" rims if that's the look you want. Available from site sponsor, Ferrari UK. Check it out! Spoke with a guy last week that had gone as large as 17". Not many brands to pick from, but I think HRE makes some nice wheels. Welcome to the site, anybody else have input????
I can check on my tire sizes for you, my 16" are 7"W front and 8"W rear, which is correct for later 308s. The earlier cars had the same size rim at all four corners. Don't have the car at work today, will post later!
For wheels go to garedcars.com. Best selection and prices. Get 16" wheels, better looks and no problems (17" are on the edge of fitting). BTW: 308s share the same hubs as 328, 348 etc. so you have a lot more choices than you might think at this moment.
Ferrari Uk sells original not repro wheels for the Ferrari. You can basically upgrade to the 308 QV rims which as mentioned are 16" and some have used the 328 non-ABS rim for the 308 (which are very reasonable from Ferrari UK). The repro wheels are made by (or at least distributed) by Superformance (also in the UK). Those rims have an "original" look to them but are not Identical to the originals. They also weigh in more. Momo also makes an F40 style rim (16") which is what I am running on my car now. See pic
I had Compomotive make a set of 7.5x17" wheels for my 308 GT4- they look nice and were cheap (something like $1,150/set four years ago). They'll make up whatever you want if you supply desired size, bolt pattern and offset. If you want to see mine, e-mail me and I'll send you some photos.
Speedy308: Thanks a lot. I kinda assumed the 16 inch would be the appropriate size coupled with maybe a 50 or 55 series tire (235's or so I would guess). Would be curious what your actual sizes are and if you have had any clearance issues. Thanks again, to everyone who posted this is very helpful and seems like a great site for info. Happy holidays. 308tr6
heres a link to a pic of my 308 with speedline 17" "288" style wheels. best part is that they look like they are suppost to be there. not an aftermarket looking wheel, IMO. btw the rubber is 225-45-17 front and 255-45-17 rear. fit well. no rubbing. and fill out the wells nicely. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid51/p5a5e85070cc2ad5e74524ea9ab29384f/fca5d0eb.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid94/p60578f5bae8d0090a3364db8c02c4534/fa3768ca.jpg
A lot of wheels will fit or can be made to fit. I'm running 550 wheels, 18x8.5 F and 18x10.5...but needed a little work to install.
Thanks for the pics!! I do like the original Ferrari style, and I think a lot of aftermarkets are just plain cheezy, though some can be very nice and fit the car style quite well. The pics from mk e and jbrosseau are just fantastic. Two awesome cars. Thanks again.
Jerry (Tork1966)...Very nice Gotti's...they look terrific on your 308! My 308 has the Gotti's on her as well (installed by previous owner), and they've really grown on me so to speak. Here's a pic: Still looking for a set of original 16" US original wheels just to keep with the car, but think I'll keep the Gotti's mounted though. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome!! What size tires are you running with these? Also can you give me an approximate cost and dealer info? Thanks
Thanks for the compliments guys. The tires are Dunlop SP 8000 225 16 50's in front and 245 16 45's in rear. According to many folks on this site, this is the widest that you can go without modifications. The wheels I bought 2nd hand, so I don't know where you can get them, sorry.
Thanks, 308tr6... I'm running stock 16" 308 size Goodyear's on mine. These rims were manufactured / sold by Gotti wheel co. back in the 80's, and were very popular back in those days for exotic applications. I read somewhere recently on a website that they originally sold for around $900 to $1000 per rim back then. They are 3-piece rims. I think that Gotti later sold their wheel designs to Enkei (or something like that). As far as I know, Gotti is no longer in business -- but I do see Gotti rims pop up every now and then on eBay and other places for sale. I've seen them on several Countachs, 308s, and Panteras. Here's a link to a set on a Pantera: http://www.pim.net/21703jk.html
The PO put Compomotives on my car, 7x16 front, 8x16 rear. Very high quality wheels but those little bolts are a real pain to clean around. IMHO the GT4 definitely needs it's wheel wells filled in with a larger tire and wheel and the GTB/S needs 16's as well.
Mike are you sure those are Compomotive? They look identical to the MOMO's that I have on my car (posted above). You're right, the GT4 definately looks better with the wells filled in.
I've been looking at 17" Ronal wheels, specifically the LZ which you can see at http://www.ronalusa.com/wheels/lz.html and on a 308 at http://www.nicksforzaferrari.com/forzaferrariwebsite1_005.htm though Nick is quite high on the price compared to buying them direct. How much do original 16" 308QV Chromadora magnesium wheels weigh?
I am running the Superformance reproduction 16" wheels on my 308. 7" wide in the front, 8"wide in the rear. The stock tire sizes used on the QV were 205/50-16 frnt., 225/50-16 rear. I am running 225/50-16 on the front and 245/45-16 on the rear. No rubbing and leaves room for lowering. The wheel and tire combo is around 2.5 pounds heavier on each front and 3.5 pounds heavier on each rear in comparison to the stock 7.5"x 14" wheels with XWX tires. Mine have a nice finish, spin true and there were no problems balancing them. The price was good too. Just to look at something else. I'm running a Speedline 2311 wheel, 17 X7.5 front and 17 x 8.5 rear shod with Michelins 225/50-17 front and 245/45 rear overall diameter 26.1 inches; Car lowered 1" since photo. Spasso - How do you like those Yoko ES-100s? best rt
"The stock tire sizes used on the QV were 205/50-16 frnt., 225/50-16 rear" Should be 205/55-16 front stock on a QV.
