OT - I've always wanted a ride in an F-40 (still waiting) and in either a LearJet or a Citation. Yesterday I was in the right seat (co-pilot) of a Citation II jet. Climbs at 4,000 ft/minute and cruises at 380.

For a pivate pilot, this was a real treat.

AWESOME! Id love a ride in a Business Jet too! Citations are great.

How did you get a ride in the right seat?

    Any pictures?

The manager of the FBO where we keep our plane knew that I wanted a ride in one. He called, on very short notice, and asked if I had time for a ride in a Citation. Did I have time? Of course, I had time.

Sure glad that he called on a slow day. Don't know what I would have done if it was a day with a full clinic!

If you think that was fun, tell him to get you a ride in a Citation X! It's the fastest business jet available. Cruises at Mach .98!!

you're wrapped to tight il commenadatore. why don't you mind you own business... no harm done. if you see something that's off topic then don't read it. jerk.

    hey echrist,

i almost bought a fractional interest in citation X a few years ago (those jets aren't cheap...about $20M give or take). i got a test flight around los angeles. coolest thing i've ever done. as you know the citation X is the fastest non-military jet in the world! the engines on that thing are huge..awesome plane.

Ahh, nothing like an old 20-series Lear for climb performance. I fly a 35 for my day job, not quite the same thing but close.

I've always wondered... what's the ride like in those things? Anytime I've flown one of the smaller passenger jets, I get bounced and jostled all over the place at the slightest gust of wind. Flying through a cloud is a nightmare. And these jets are half the size of the smallest passenger jet I've been in. Do they bounce around even more???

Since this was my first time in a private jet, someone else will have to answer for me. I know that my ride in Bonanza on the return flight was a lot bumpier than the Citation. But, sitting in the right seat makes up for a lot of bumps!

I have been in Citation 7's, X's as well as a Falcon 50, Hawkers and several G-III's and G-IV's. To me, they all fly smoother than all but the biggest commercial airliners.

    echrist,

What a thrill that must have been.

A friend took me up in a Lear-25. I thought that was pretty cool.
Jim Clark, the founder of Netscape, took me for a ride in his Eurocopter.

But the closest I've been to a Citation is a police officer standing at my car window.

    Congratulations
