Spent some quality time with Bond - James Bond thanks to Spike TV offering someting other that Its a wonderful life AGAIN Who is the best bond and Why
Connery created the brand, the irreverance, the swagger. Brosnan does well to maintain it, and Moore had the pattern, but had lousy scripts to play. Lazenby wasted a movie, especially with a young Diana Rigg (we need a best bond girl poll too, she 's a contender). Dalton, Niven, not likely...Niven in other venues. Clive Owen has lots of potential as the newest Bond...I wish him well.
Connery, by far. Brosnan has been the best since Sir Sean. I'm wondering who would make a good replacement... Colin Farrell perhaps?
1. Connery 2. Lazenby (Highly underrated, IMO. with 'Majesty' being my favorite Bond pic.) 3. Moore 4. Dalton 5. Niven Sfumato, I will have to agree with you concerning Diana Rigg as one of my favorite Bond women. She had it all; looks, swagger, independence, looks, toughness, and did I mention looks? and my list of ladies would be: 1. Diana Rigg 2. Barbara Bach (Ringo you lucky bastard!) 3. Jane Seymour 4. Tatiana (From Russia with Love) 5. Sophie Marceau Well, back to Bond........... Happy Holidays everyone!!!!!
NO NO NO!!! Colin Farrell must go away as fast as his movies do at the box office!!! Clive Owen would be my pick so far to succeed Pierce.
Clive Owen... I had never heard of him prior to this thread, but he does seem like a good Bond contender. It seems like there are rumors abound about him having the Bond torch passed to him... I guess I was thinking of a blockbuster actor when I was considering who might be able to pull it off... that's probably not the best way to think of it.
Ok you guys are getting the idea//// we will have to have a run off to get the Bond Babe vote afterall there were only 6 bonds and 1,095,867,483 bond women
Im the only guy in teh world who likes Roger Moore. Or maybe its just that I like those Bond movies the best and associate him with them. However, Im not suprised that Sean Connery is going to win The original is always hte best!
I have no problem with that but I don't think Rob was ready for that many options on the poll set up screen But how bout we do Bond women Pre 1970 1970-1980 1980-1990 1990-2000 2000+ and then a run off of the winners
How about pick best bond/runner-ups, then pick best bond women for each? And the women need to have more than bit part... Kristina Wayborn... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I thought I was the only guy that had a crush on Kristina Wayborn, she didn't make much of a splash in her career after the one movie. BUT her looks are perfection!
I love the blondes...so this is a surprise, but Agent Triple X had those amazing pouting eyes, and sultry way about her that just oozes sex. Anya (Barbara Bach) was the hottest Bond girl in my book. Also best exotic car gadget ever! The Spy Who Loved Me
I would have to vote for Connery as well, but as people have stated, this is mostly because he was the "original Bond". I have heard some say that Dalton was the best Bond pertaining to the novel's description. Not sure on this since I have never read any of the novels. I also think Clive Owen would be a great Bond. He has the accent, the build, and most importantly, he was great in the BMW films!!
I liked Lazenby as Bond. Connery was the original, but I don't think he ever had his own vision of the character. At times, the character was the hard-nosed assassin, other times he tried (and often missed) for the wise-cracking "rat pack" image, probably depending on the director's mood of the day. (The "rat pack" films were big box office when the Bond films started.) Lazenby's Bond was more like "Bond meets Horatio Hornblower", with an attempt to make the character more human. Besides, it's not easy to be the first "new" Bond. But the studio seems to have concluded that the gizmos were the star, so we got a bunch of Roger Moore films (gak), who also seems to have been aiming (badly) at the "charming bad boy" rat-pack image. But I'm probably biased, as OHMSS was my favorite book: The chapter with the "race" between Bond's blower Bentley and the Cougar(?) harkens back to what "Grand Touring" used to be. As a Bond girl, Dianna Rigg certainly had "M" appeal. (nudge, nudge) Absolutely my favorite bond girl, avenger, and assistant to mad actor. .
Diana saved Lazenby...he played it like the book, but Connery had already cast the die. It's amazing how non-satirical/literal Austin Powers was...that was the funny part. Clive Owen has potential to deadpan his way thru, menacingly stoic. Should be fun. Image Unavailable, Please Login
