Car runs better in the cold and wet ?

quick go buy a lottery ticket. you must be the luckiest man in the world. in my 40 odd years of automobile owership i have never had any car run better in the wet and cold. you are truly blessed. water injection is a reality. it was used in aircraft and some racing applications so it might be working for you au natural. stranger things have happened

 

colder air = denser air = more oxygen.

 

I use water injection in my supercharged race car and I do not think this is it. I believe that a combination of cold dense air and the moisture in the air is just reacting really well with your injection system making for a better running engine.

 

I notice this all the time* the cold air makes it run better, and if there is a deficiency in octane, wet air makes that better also.

*About as 'all the time' as one can have living in a heat soaking desert.

 

Mycar has more pep in the cold. no question. Not my bimmer, but the f-car.

 

My car definitely runs better in cooler weather. Got caught in thunderstorm back in November, didn't notice it running any better.

 

We notice that in the winter the compressors we use in our factory are a lot more efficient due to the cold, dense air.

Years ago I had a Trans Am, back when they still had shaker hood scoops. It was however later in the production when the factory had sealed them off and they were more for show and less go. An old trick was to carefully cut the back of it open so the motor could breathe. This way the scoop was open directly into the carb. Once I had done this, WOW, what a diff. in the cold. The car felt really strong and the colder it got the better it felt.

 

Same can be said for the turbo car-intercooler drops the heated air temp caused by the compressor side,power goes up with one being there
it will fall if you remove it,its that thing called physics it's all over the motor vehicle,

The merits of cooler air have already been shared.

One reason Stock Car Racing is so popular in the South is because of the high humidity. Cars love humidity, even when it's hot, moreso when it's cool.

Bottom line: Cool Air + High Humidity (Rain) = Zim, Zam, Zoom
