What is the statue of limitation and is it different in each state. Does it only apply to criminal law or does it also apply to civil law.

James, i don't know if they have a statue of limitation, :), but the statute of limitations varies on different offenses... There is no statute of limitations on murder and i believe that applies in all states... Also, i believe the statute of limitations varies from offenses from state to state...

Since your in California, you can find the applicable statute of limitations for various civil matters in the Code of Civil Procedure, starting at Section 300 through section 400. Most of them are in the 330 range.

The criminal statute of limitations will be contained with the Penal Code.
