Any Fiat People? Got a 1981 Fiat Spider...original Owner. Member of FLU.
Yep 81 Fiat Spider with Hard Top. Here is a link to the Roman Chairots Fall Foliage tour. My car is the white 81 with the hard top. http://www.maffiacarclub.com/PhotoAlbum/20031010ArkansasWithChariots.htm
This is a Ferrari Board! They are all Fiat people!!!lol My dad used to always have Fiat Spiders and loved them. I have a soft spot for them till this day.
Love the Fiat Spiders! I was going to buy one but I had a real hard time finding one in good condition...so I ended up with a good deal on my Mustang. I wish I had waited just a little longer and gone Fiat though...
Love Fiats. Had 3 Fiat X1/9s starting when i was 18. My mini 308! Article in Nov. issue of Classic& Sports Car about lady who had 3 as well, got me all nostalgic.....
I'm a Fiat owner too (+ my Ferrari)! I've owned my 1981 2000 Turbo Spider for about 3 years. Before that, I had 1978 124 Spider before I bought my first Ferrari. Photos at: http://groups.msn.com/NorthwestRegionFerrariPhotos/1981fiatturbospider.msnw
My first car in 1975 - a 71 Fiat 850 Spider !! Paid $800!! It was great going through the early 70s fuel crisis with 30 mpg and a 6 gallon tank.
I agree with you Sam, it is great to see that Ferrari owners aren't snobs and that they recognize how special Fiats actually are. My 84 Pininfarina will have to due for a while until I can afford to get a 308.
First car was a 1200 Cabriolet. I still have two X1/9s (a '74 and an '86). Been looking at a 1500 Osca powered cabriolet, but my damn worth-only-$25K-TR needs another influx of money. I shoulda bought a Supra... I hear they'll whip any Ferrari even on a bad day...
I currently own a '67 850 coupe, '70 124 spider, '79 Lancia HPE....also own a '71 Alfa spider and a '81 308 GTS.....LOVE all italian cars but I really need a bigger garage.
I've owned two 1964 1500 cabriolets, 2400 dino coupe, and three 131/bravas. I drive a 131 wagon as my daily driver. So I guess that makes me a Fiat guy, ha! -Slim
My first car was a Fiat...an Uno 60 (2 doors), the second was a Tipo (also 2 doors) and now I have a Lancia Delta HPE I love the X1/9 and still hope to own one of them in the future...or a Ferrari ofcourse...eh...
Yep forgot to mention that I owned three Lancia Scorpions and Lancia Zagato previously. Currently I have 67 Maserati Mexico soon 72 Maserati Indy 73 Ferrari 365 81 FIAT Spider 86 Maserati Spyder My driver is the FIAT. It has been through more rain etc. without problem than any previous car. It has some mods like being the coldest FIAT known to man. My mechanic took the back seat out and replaced it with a huge evaporator and dual fans. I can get the car down to 55 cabin temp in the Texas August heat of 105+ I also run it with my hard top most of the year accept for the late spring.
FIAT began on 11th July 1899 when Societa anima Fabbrica Italiana di Automobili - Torino was formed. The first care was a 3 1/2HP (or 4HP) with 679cc engine and capable of 35km/h. Around 25 were produced. This was produced in teh factory on Corso Dante where 150 workers were employed. Other models followed sonn, the 8, then 10, then 12HP. The 8HP was first front engined Fiat, with a two cylinder 1082cc engine producing 10hp, built at a rate of one per week. The 12HP, with a 3768cc engine was the first Fiat to be widely exported, around Europe and to the US. A total of 134 were built. Fiat did produce a 500 that was basically the Fiat clone of the mini cooper. As I remember actually under license of Austin. Something to that effect anyhow.
The british mini debuted in 1959. The Fiat 500 began with the Topolino 500 from 1936 and just evolved from there. I don't see much similarity between the front-engined Mini and the rear-engine Fiat Nuova 500 which debuted in 1957.
Yep like I said did not remember if it was the 500 or not, but I do remember that one of the FIATs was a mini clone. Somebody else may remember which model.
That would be the Innocenti Mini. I have seen a few of them back in the early 70's when Mini fans were bringing them into the country. http://www.inno-mini-world.com/
Yes, I have a Fiat Abarth 850 TC with a 1000TC engine. It is an original Abarth with wich I have done the Monte Carlo Challenge a few years ago. It is a fantastic and VERY fast car with which driving on snow is incredible fun!!
I was a bit quick sending my message. As you can see, my first on this forum. I forgot to mention my other Italian cars. 1. Maserati 3500 GT, 1961 2. Maserati Quattroporte, 1964. (Also used by me for the Monte Carlo Challenge, an unlikely but fantastic rally car)) 3. Maserati Ghibli, 1972 and 1968 (sold now) 4. Fiat Barchetta, 1996 5. Ferrari 308 GTB 1977 6. Alfa Giulia Super 1973 (sold now)
