OK, I saw the 550 "Targa" at www.cavallinomodels.com/index1.htm

But still, does anyone out there know about any real 550 that has been converted to a Targa or T-bar ?
Reason for asking: I used to have a (sorry for saying this) Nissan 280 ZX with T-bar roof, and I just loved that car, except for two things: lack of power, and it didn´t have the right name, beginning with Ferrari-something....
So, I was thinking about buying a 550 and maybe convert it. I mean, if people have had their Testarossas, 308/328 etc. converted into cabrios etc. maybe someone had done something similar with a 550 ?
I don´t like the 550 Barcetta for a number of reasons (price too...), but a Targa / T-bar on a 550 would be exactly my thing.

    -Anyone out there, please ?!?

Anders, I feel for you, although I suspect you are making some board members shiver with the idea!! Personally, I have always liked modifying cars to suit me taste, driving style, safety or pleasure of a particular vehicle. I will be the first to admit that not all my decisions have been good ones in retrospect but many have been and have improved the car without challenging its character. I like the gts version of the 355 for instance and agree with you that a 550 with removable top panels would be a great car, but only if done very very well. Changing brakes, wheels or adding engine or exhaust mods is one thing, but cutting up the sheet metal is such a permanent act. I suspect the cost would be high unless someone has already tooled up for the task or multiple units were being done. Post some pics of your completed project if you go through with it.
_Alain, do you know what the cost of a convertible top conversion is?

You're certainly freaking me out Anders! :)

I love the flow of the lines on the 550/575 and I think it would be totally ruined with the T-top off.

That said, it's your money and you have to do whatever makes you happy.

Eurocoachworks Inc. (www.eurocoachworks.com) had an ad in Forza showing the spider conversion they've done to the 550. You may talk them about the targa conversion. However they are located in Florida and you are in Sweden maybe you can get an idea.

You sure they've done it before? That "converted" 550 they show is an airbrushed painting.
