Each of the cars that I have came from private owners except for the 348 and F40 and each have a great story. I think I enjoy the hunt almost as much as driving the cars. Each of the owners were great guys and we remain friends and stay in touch.

308 gts QV Euro...local AZ guy that was afraid to rev the car over 3500...boy was he surprised when I tested the car at red line...his only response was...."So that's how it's supposed to sound!"

81 Mondial Coupe....from a guy in VA that thought the car was too fast for him. I think a good running RX7 would have beat that car!

87 TR...From Menomene (Sp?), MI. Great couple. It took 4 months of negotiations and 3 planes to get there and was he surprised (shocked)after we did the deal that I was driving the car to AZ. When I got home after that great trip there were a dozen messages on my machine from them.

F40....Boyd's Hot Rods. Some guy had traded it on a custom hot rod....go figure.

348....the old Auto Toy Store in FL. Pretty much a non event...they delivered it to my door, gave me a great deal and gave me more for my Lotus Esprit than I paid for it!

Mondial t cab....Super guy in Rochester, NY. My brothers went up to check the car out and he and his gracious family made them dinner and let them stay the night. When I picked it up, we had a great time in his 550 and it was the start of another great cross country drive.

All this talk has made me want to go car shopping again. Ciao....Dino

Got my Mondial from a grandmother in San Antonio, TX in 12/00. She got it from her mother-in-law who was 89 and didn't want to drive anymore. The mother-in-law bought it new from the dealer when she was in her 70's. So.......the two previous owners of my Mondial were two Texas grandmothers.

You can't make this stuff up ! :)

both my 355 and 550 came from FNA authorized dealers.

in the 355 case, it was my first ferrari and i really wanted to buy from an auth dealer. though i did look at a number of PP 355s.

in the 550 case, it just fell into my lap via the dealer - i would have bought from an independent or individual, but the car was there so that was that!

I bought my Red 1981 308GTSi,almost exactly 3 years ago,(Jan,5th.'01) The car had 14,250 original miles, and just had it's 15K service, and a few other new parts, replaced due to lack of use.(we have many months that we can't drive Ferrari's due to Snow,Salt, and rain.) It was a locally owned car, that was purchased here in the Chicago area when it was new. I got it from Lake Forest Sportscars,in Lake Forest,IL. (Now moved to Lake Bluff). They are 1 of 2 local,Authorized Ferrari dealers in the Chicago area. But,I also have another Ferrari dealer,Continental AutoSports in Hinsdale,Il. about 5 minutes from my house. We also have quite a few Exotic Automobile Dealers in the Chicago area,so there's always a great selection around for whatever you're looking for.
