Does any one know if there has been a U.S. President that has owned a Ferrari ? Maybe JFK or Reagan in his acting days ? Just curious.

Clinton was a car guy and I believe still owns a classic Mustang convertible, which has a very similar looking horsey on it; although it's GT350 and GT500 versions were much faster than the Ferrrais of the era.

In politics the display of wealth is not a good idea. The average American
can not relate to owning exotic autos.

Willie Brown in California was/is an exception. But then again he never
    made into national politics.

But, JFK never had a problem displaying his wealth and I bet the Kennedy clan had a Ferrari stashed away for family use at one of their many mansions. And Reagan may have owned one back when he was just a rich actor ?

Clinton may have "Owned" someone with a Ferrari,
{Insert: Hit It!} But, As I recall, Clintons Vehicle
of Choice was either an El Camino or Ranchero with
    an Astroturf Bed Liner!

    Frank......

    Don't know any US diplomats/politicos that do...but here's a story.....

Dr. Grant Hill from the town of Okotoks, which is just 30 minutes south of Calgary, is an elected member of parliament in the Canadian government opposition party, and he has a nicely restored 246 Dino which he drives regularily.

A year or two ago the ex-prime minister of Canada (Jean Chretien) referred to the car in an argument apparently......something along the lines of "well at least I do not have a Ferrari like the honorable member does"......when they were discussing the cost of replacing the bullet-proofed government Buicks or whatever we ferry our politicians around in.

    Frank,

With All due respect, what does any Vehicle I
own have to due with the topic of this Thread.
ie,: Presidents or Ferraris? A little touchy Frank?
Are you having a Bad Day?

The Avalanche will go, but only because I miss
having a "Real" Truck. And as far as looks, I don't
think they're ugly at all… To each their own?

You started it with your comments about the type of vehicles our former great President Clinton owned. In any event, an Avalanche is the King of UGLY IMHO. But, no, I'm not in a bad mood. Thanks for asking though.

It's odd that you'd find what I said offensive? In his own
Words (One of the funnest Cars I've ever owned).

And, I'm sure your description "Great", was tongue-in-cheek?

US Senator from OR - Gordon Smith - is a big Ferrari nut. Had several, including an F40. However, because of image, he's gotten rid of most (or maybe all?) of them. Rumor has it that he still has a Mondial tucked away somewhere.

I agree with the thought that the Kennedys were not averse to showing their wealth, but I believe that for the most part they were yacht people, as opposed to expensive cars (although they clearly could have afforded a lot of both).

I would guess that Jack never owned an F-car. Among other reasons, he would have steered clear of a car from a country so closely associated with Roman Catholicism, given the political issues of the day.

Prince Bernhard of Orange Nassau drove Ferrari's all his life. He still has a 456M GT in his (one only) special colour green (like all his Ferrari's).
Prince Laurent of Belgium had to sell his blue 355 after some public discussions about his speedingtickets.
A former Secretary of State of the Netherlands drove a black Ferrari Barchetta. He also refused the government car and came to office in his Bentley. He only was a secretary of State for a few weeks.
