The world's first $1,000 (£565) omelette featured on the menu at a New York hotel yesterday but so far no one has been extravagant enough to order it.

The "Zillion Dollar Frittata" comes with 10oz of caviar, lobster and chopped chives.

"It's not just a gimmick," said Steven Pipes, manager of Le Parker Meridien hotel. "It tastes good."

The funny thing is that people will complain that this is over the top, yet don't say anything to $1000 bottles of wine. :D

How would you have it prepared? "Aristotle & Jackie" or "Charles & Di"?

They may not sell any, but just offering it on the menu has given them loads of free press.

I can already hear the waiter complaining about being stiffed by the restaurant patron who only left a $100 tip instead of the customary 15%...

For $4.00 this morning I had a breakfast in my local Brooklyn pizzaria that could not be beat. Sausage and peppers fried in olive oil and butter, a few eggs scrambled in and served in a toasted, buttered Italian roll. Add a buck fifty expresso and sat and read the NY Times and Daily News for an hour - Priceless!
