What was the first car to bear Scuderia shields

An Alfa Romeo, I would think.

Edit: for example -

 

Any Alfa from before the war that was part of the Scuderia had shields. Can't remember off the top of my head which one was the first.

Enzo Ferrari ran a semi-works Alfa Romeo racing team BEFORE he founded Ferrari, thus the first car to race with the shields was the awesome Alfa Romeo P3 in the late 30's.

I suggest that you read up on Alfa Romeo's history (especially the early stuff) as it naturally fits in perfectly with the history of Ferrari. Basically Alfa Romeo was the equivalent to Ferrari in the early 1900's up to around the early 40's where Alfa Romeo changed direction and moved into more mass production vehicles.

Scuderia Ferrari, the "factory" Alfa Team, was founded in 1929. There is an excellent book on the subject by Orsini, but it is difficult to find and expensive.

PS: I want to drive the Bimotore, even though the existing car is a "replica"

 

From the book "The Scuderia Ferrari": first time the prancing horse appeared on the cars was at the Spa 24 hrs July 9/10 1932. The pic shows a refuelling stop of the D'Ippolito/Taruffi team. Taruffi tops up the oil while D'Ippolito is whiping the windscreen. Already in those days the team ran on Shell fuel!

There are some old pics of that Alfa in the auction book, when it was sold in 2001 at Silverstone's Coys Historic Festival.
Sorry, but I only saw those pics and do not have copies.

Nice finding Tom. Along #2111027 ran #2211053, both being 8C 2300 Zagato Spiders. #053 won the race and #027 was second. Both cars were driven on the road to participate in the race. They left Milan on July 2nd, one week before the race. #027 in 1933 was delivered to Luigi Scarfiotti, father of Ludovico. By then the body was converted into a Zagato fixed-head coupe body of which a pic is added. After sitting longtime in a garage in the UK as a bodyless car it now apparently receives its original body style.
#053, the Spa winning car was feasted on as this period pic shows. The car shortly after received a Touring body (see pic). Pics come from Moore's The legendary 2.3.

The Scuderia Ferrari book is VERY difficult to find in English; the last few copies I have seen were in Italian. I have seen a price as high as $600 for the English language version.

As to miniatures, there are hundreds of models of early Scuderia Ferrari models available, ranging from 1/43rd scale to larger. Prices can range from about $20 to as much as thousands, depending if the model is a simple die-cast to a one of a kind hand built.
