OK, I am really bad with computers. But this is driving me crazy. I want to post some photos, but every time I try, it says images are too large, so I "crop" the photos and then they are just worthless. Not even worth posting. This can not be that difficult. How do I do this? Oh, and forget trying to post an avatar pic. I wouldn't mind some advice on that one either.
    Rich Wallace where are you?

600x600 is adequate for any picture - .jpg not .bmp is the file type of choice, as it is much "smaller" in file size/space.

Avatars are "limited" to 80 x 80 pixels in size.

    Let's do an Avatar first:
    Click:
    User Options
    User Control Panel
(new page opens in same window)

    Click:
    Edit Avatar
(new page opens in same window)

Upload an Avatar From Your Computer:
    Click:
    [Choose]
    (New shell opens)

Go ahead, select your avatar from that shell
    Click:
    Open
    (shell closes)

Patience. You will note the information transferred to the formerly white space. You're not done.

    Click:
    Save Changes
    (See magnificent Avatar)

    Click:
FerrariChat Logo to return to home page. Pick a thread you've posted on, and admire your Avatar.

Now let's do your picture upload:

Again, the maximum height and width are 600x600. For the benefit of those who do not possess photo manipulation software... Let's say you've got a .bmp that you want to save as a .jpg... the solution is to simply send yourself an email.

Go ahead, send that fat .bmp to yourself. When you receive it, save it as a .jpg, and if necessary, downsize it to 600 x 600. Why? Because .bmps are huge, inefficient files, not unlike your huge, inefficient coworker.

Obviously, you've gotten far enough to see there's a problem in uploading files, so I shan't repeat the steps necessary, other than... Patience.

No post about pics would be complete without one, so I'll choose... this small one, as it no doubt sums up your frustration:
    Image Unavailable, Please Login

Another way to change from bmp to jpg is in Paint, which everyone tends to have. Just do a "save as."

As for resizing, once it's saved as jpg, I would use the Microsoft Windows resizer. You can highlight a hundred photos if you want, right click, resize photos. Download the program here: (look about half way down on the right) http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Tom and Zach, Thank you for your help, it is greatly appreciated. My wife was kind enough to show me how to change the pixel size of the picture so I can post pictures. It took her about 10 seconds-damn! She still can't change a car tire though-thank heavens.

Doing just fine Rich. Big weekend for you. I wish you and your lovely wife all the best and be sure to send us pictures of the newest addition to your family. I look forward to our get together in June for the concours. Ps. my wife is going to show me how to open a box today. HA HA. Ya gotta love the fairer sex, I don't know where I would be without her. Peace and Best Wishes Robert
