does anyone here own a gt3? how would it be as a daily driver.... i know the performance is great but could it be used for mudane commuting and is it and will it be as bullet proof as other 911s?..could it be driven 15k miles a year and still hold up well and be cheap to maintain?..relatively of course..what do the masterminds of this great web site think?

I've heard that the suspension is a bit to stiff for street driving

Living in London I don't have space for more than one car and so compromised on a GT3. It handles London traffic and roads very well - you have to be a bit careful when going over speed humps. It can be a bit noisey when touring but when you get a good road or track it's worth it! It was great on a recent trip to Southern France and I'll be using it for a trip to Northern Italy (back via the 'ring) this August (2 plus luggage). I love it because every trip feels special.

I have heard of people selling their GT3's quickly because of how bad it is for a daily driver (due to stiff suspension). You would be better off getting a used Turbo IMO.

I've only had test drives of a few (mostly) turbos but I'd say the suspension is much firmer (almost no roll or bounce) which can actually make it more comfortable in some circumstances and soft cars make me feel sick. It's considerably louder inside due to the lack of sound proofing - you'll have to try one to be sure that it's acceptable. I suggest you have a look at forums.rennlist.com and try and find an owner near you.

Editied as I noticed the new post. That's true; they obviously didn't do their research. I was originally looking to buy a turbo and was very impressed with them but as soon as I drove a GT3 I couldn't have a turbo. I am tempted by a GT2 though! The turbo is a better all round car but as such is (slightly) compromised. In the end it's always going to be a personal choice and if you can't spend some time in a GT3 don't buy it in the hope you'll like it.

i have driven turbo and regular 996, the turbo is very comfortable..almsot too plush and quiet..i dont mind a daily driver with a great exhaust not and stiff ride

I'm not an owner.....but I've got plenty of GT2 seat time (no difference really from a GT3 suspension wise).......and that car is fine for daily use here in Calgary on our roads.......I imagine a GT3 is no different.

You've really got to watch entering slopes on driveways...etc...however with the GT2 because of the extended front spoiler lip.

gt2/3 porsches are radical for a porsche but still very streetable compared to a 348, tr, 355, even a 360
