Question: my 84 QV's owners manuel, on the cover, says "308 Quattrovalvole, U.S. version" (which it is) Open it up and it says "1983 Models". Is this not the correct book? Or was Ferrari lazy, and printed up a bunch that says 1983 and kept handing them out with the cars?
Mine says '1984 models'. You may have the wrong book, as there are differences between 83' and 84' models.
Are you sure your car is an 84? What is the production date for your car? It should be posted on the door jam. Dave
For the '84-'85 US model 308QV, the OM is 307/84 (and there's an "Attachment" 342/85 for the '85 that is included when you download the 307/84 OM from the Owners Site). For the '83 US model 308QV, the OM is 260/83. To verify which model year US car you have just compare the air injection system on the car to the illustrations in the respective OMs. (I'm sure there are other small differences, but that one comes to mind as an easy one to check -- '83 = belt-driven, vane-type air pump; '84/'85 = no air pump)
The 10 digit of the vin number indicates the year of production for the US market. A 1980 B 1981 c 1982 D 1983 E 1984 F 1985 G 1986 H 1987 I WAS NOT USED J 1988 K 1989 L 1990 M 1991 N 1992 O WAS NOT USED P 1993 Q WAS NOT USED
my car was manufactured in June of 84, and yes, it is a US model. Obviously, previous seller / owner lost the originals, got another... oh well...
