Hi guys. I am taking my wife to Vegas in May for our 10th anniv. I thought I'd surprise her and book a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon and also buzz the strip. I checked online and there are many companies that offer this service, so I thought I'd get the opinion of someone who lives there and might have have used one of them. This probably belongs in OT but she reads that section so...oh well.

Any other ideas of interesting things to do (other than casinos) would also be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Donny

Other things to do in Las Vegas:

Rent a 348 or 355 from Dream Car Rentals or RAV and drive some of our great roads.

Driving instruction at LV Motor Speedway

Outlet shopping in LV and down the road 45min. in Stateline/Primm

    Hoover Dam tour

All of 007's ideas are good ones.

Some others (depending on what you like to do) would include hiking in Red Rock Canyon, or boating on Lake Mead (there are rentals available). And in addition to the outlets 007 mentioned, there is also "world class" shopping at such malls as The Forum Shops (at Caesars Palace), Desert Passage (at the Alladin) or The Fashion Show (on the Strip).

Also, the Ferrari Club of Las Vegas will have at least two events in May: a drive to Death Valley on the 8th, and a driving school on the 22nd. And other car clubs in town have events to which the FCLV is invited. Here is the current calendar.

I was going to suggest the blimp rides- that was really cool. But I guess they went out of business. Guess most people didn't want to spend the $$ (even in Vegas)

    Looks like fun.

The chopper rides go so fast (only a few minutes) you can't see what's going on I hear.

Paul, this isn't the Louisiana section. What are you doing looking around here? Kelly will kick you out of the club forever!

Thanks for all the input. Looks like I may pass on the copter tour. I want to make it to my 20th anniv. Thanks for all the input, my wife is well aware of the outlet in Primm. We actually thought of renting a 355. I plan to sell the 308 and get one in the next year or so, but have actually never driven one, so this seems like a perfect opportunity.

I'll check on the F Club events. I'd like to meet the Vegas guys.

    Thanks again.

Wildcat - Let me know when in May you're coming. We'll roll out the red carpet for you (if we can find it!) :)

Rent a Ferrari and take it for a spin thru Lake Mead Park, I just did this again in my 328, the road goes from Boulder City to Overton, the weather is nice now and the road is a nice twisty scenic route that has little traffic, its a blast.

Forget Primm, the outlet stores their are a joke as far as decent values, downtown LV has a new outlet center that is far better.

Thanks for all of the info. I didn't realize there has been so many accidents on those tours. I think we are going to do something much safer....Prince concert. My wife is a huge 80s music fan so I think she'll enjoy it.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, to many irons in the fire lately.

We will be in Vegas 5/26-31. Please let me know if you guys have anything scheduled, I'd enjoy meeting you. If I rent an FCar, maybe we could get together for a quick drive.

Here are links to a couple of places that rent Ferraris. Not cheap.

I don't believe there are any car club events planned during that time frame. If you wanted to go to the Imperial Palace Auto Collection, we have a friend there that perhaps could arrange a private tour.

Or if you just want to get together with some of the Ferrari Club members, let me know and I'll try to set something up.

Wildcatfans - Since I last posted, our Ferrari Club has joined with a lot of other local car clubs for a car show on Sunday, May 30. Let me know if you'd be interested in attending, and I'll get you the details. (That doesn't preclude the idea of also getting together for a drive one of the other days you'll be in Vegas.)

Thank you Bob, that sounds like a lot of fun. Please forward me the information for the show. I look forward to meeting you and the guys from the Vegas club.

I haven't reserved a Ferrari yet, we have several things planned while we're there, but don't imagine it would be a problem getting one on short notice (I may be wrong). If we can't find a Ferrari, I do have a Chrystler Sebring for the week (just joking).

I also plan to see the IP car collection. Do they have any F cars on display currently? I went through it a few years ago and throughly enjoyed it.

I'm always jealous of people who live, where I go on vacation!

    Thanks again.

Here is a link to information on the May 30 show.

    http://www.birthdaybash.net

Tell me what other details you'd like me to supply.

Regarding the IP Collection, there was an Enzo there a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if it still is, but there are always some Ferraris included in the display.

There is also another Enzo on display on the Strip, at the Wynn Collection. That's at the site of the old Desert Inn, where the new Wynn Las Vegas hotel is under construction.

The car show looks like fun. We'll definitely try to make it out to meet everyone. You can easily spot me, I'll be wearing my bright red Ferrari shirt.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We're really looking forward to the trip.

    Donny

P.S. Bob I emailed my cell phone # to you.
